OCEAN CITY, MD — Jan. 2, 2026 — Reservations are now being accepted for the Art League of Ocean City’s fundraising event, “Art Uncorked,” to be held on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, 6-9 p.m. in the ballroom of the Ocean Pines Yacht Club. The event supports the nonprofit Art League and their many outreach programs.
Known for memorable events such as the annual pARTy of the Year and the upcoming 10th season of the Ocean City Film Festival, the Art League is continuing their momentum with this new event based on wine pairing and romance close to Valentine’s Day.
“Art Uncorked is a fundraising dinner where love, creativity, and Italian wine come together in perfect harmony,” Rina Thaler executive director of the Art League, said. “The night promises to be a heartfelt celebration of passion — for food, for wine, for art, and for giving back. Whether you’re sharing the night with a sweetheart, friends, or fellow art lovers, this is the perfect way to toast Valentine’s Week — an unforgettable evening of wine, art, and heartfelt giving.”
Guest will enjoy a five-course Italian dinner crafted by Touch of Italy, with each dish thoughtfully paired with Italian wines and guided by Laurie Forster, The Wine Coach®, a nationally-recognized wine expert and author of the award-winning book The Sipping Point: A Crash Course in Wine.
“With her signature wit and expertise as a sommelier, Laurie will show you how to fall in love with wine all over again — teaching not just how to drink it, but how to savor its character, chemistry, and connection with food,” Thaler said.
Through interactive tastings, guests will explore how flavors flirt, contrast, and find their perfect match. Bottles of specially-curated wines will be available for purchase at the end of the evening.
Throughout the evening, art masterpieces will be unveiled, intentionally paired with a featured wine to highlight how artistic expression and wine can complement each other. The pairings will be part of a silent auction at the end of the evening, with proceeds supporting the Art League and its mission to nurture creativity in the community.
“To tempt your palate and quench your curiosity for the evening, the Art League will reveal wines, menu courses, and artwork throughout the coming weeks,” Thaler continued. “To learn more about the experience, follow the Art League on social media and subscribe to our email list.”
Reservations are $150 per person, or a table for six can be reserved for $900. Tickets and more information about the event and The Wine Coach are available at https://givebutter.com/ArtUncorked
The Art League of Ocean City is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the visual arts to the community through education, exhibits, scholarship, programs and community art projects.

The Best Gift from Ocean City, Maryland
A trip to Berlin to see their Christmas decorations is a gift in itself.
At the beginning of the season, I asked Ocean City, Maryland enthusiasts, “What’s the best Ocean City gift that you’ve ever received?” While I was hoping to curate a list of gifts that would fit under the Christmas or in a hanging stocking, the responses quickly reminded me that Ocean City gives us the most precious gifts of all- and none of them are truly things, but memories, experiences, and feelings. OCEAN CITY, MD — Dec. 16, 2025 — The Art League of Ocean City and the Taustin family have presented Brandon Bell with the inaugural Cheryl M. Taustin Creative Leadership Award. The announcement was made at the Art League’s Annual Meeting & Luncheon on Dec. 11, 2025 at the Princess Royale Hotel.
The fellowship honors the late Cheryl Miller Taustin, a prominent figure in Ocean City and Berlin, who passed suddenly in 2024.
Bell is the founder and muralist behind We Are Limitless Studios headquartered in Salisbury, Md., with the mission to harness the power of public art to impact lives, inspire individuals, and fortify communities. “Beyond mere aesthetic expressions, we view murals as potent instruments for community-building and civic engagement,” their website states. “We make impactful and large-scale public art murals that empower businesses, organizations, municipalities, and the communities in which they exist.”
Murals created by Bell and his team include the “Smile” mural for the Ocean City Recreation & Parks Center, the HealthPost mural in Newark, Md., the “Warriors Live Here” mural for the City of Pocomoke, and the Baltimore Ravens “Paint the State Purple” mural at the Crown Sports Center in Fruitland.
“I am deeply honored and honestly still processing that I was selected as the first-ever recipient…,” Bell said. “Learning about Cheryl Miller Taustin moved me in a way I did not expect … As a touring cabaret singer, advocate, educator, mother, and community builder, she used her voice to uplift others, challenge injustice, and celebrate life with grace and courage.”
At the award presentation, Cole Taustin said, “Cheryl Miller Taustin knew that we are not the sum of our productivity or our job, but the strength of our integrity, creativity, and our voice. And she graced so many with hers … She made her opinions known and served as an inspiration and fierce advocate for causes that celebrate living. Cheryl advocated for graciously and peacefully living life.”
The family also presented Bell with artwork created by son Kyler Taustin entitled, “The Last Heartbeat.” The art is bisected by a printout of his mother’s final heartbeat, “symbolizing the highs and lows of a life filled with joy, equity, love, and harmony,” Taustin stated.
“It is one of the most powerful and intimate artworks I have ever encountered,” Bell said.
The Cheryl M. Taustin Creative Leadership Award recognizes artists, educators, and mentors of any arts medium who demonstrate a synchronicity with Taustin’s commitment to causes of social justice, uplifting the unheard voice, and valuing community and thought-provoking artistry. Exemplified through daring leadership, innovative viewpoints, and generative progress, fellows will carry forward Taustin’s legacy of cultivating a more beautiful and more empathetic community through the arts.
The Art League of Ocean City is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the visual arts to the community through education, exhibits, scholarship, programs and community art projects.

A WEEK IN REVIEW OF OCEAN CITY PICTURES – Weeks 48 and 49 of 2025
Let’s look at several pictures taken in Ocean City, Maryland over these past weeks between November 29th and December 12.
Here’s some pictures of weeks 48 and 49 of 2025 in Ocean City.
Winter definitely arrived although we have not really seen any snow to date yet in Ocean City. Cold weather and strong winds but still lots of sunny days.

Whether you are an avid birdwatcher trying to get a glimpse of the elusive Saltmarsh Sparrow, an eager crabber trying to get a bushel of #1’s to steam up for dinner, or a passionate artist trying to capture the intrinsic beauty of our watershed, you share a common interest in protecting our salt marshes. Salt marshes are incredibly important to both humans and our environment as they provide numerous ecosystem services. They help mitigate flooding events caused by storms and high tide events, they act as a buffer to our bays by helping to filter runoff carrying excess nutrients and pollutants, they store carbon, and provide habitat to many species in our watershed. Unfortunately, there are several threats that are causing us to lose salt marsh habitat throughout our watershed. Sea level rise, erosion caused by wave energy, development and hardening of shorelines are just a few of the reasons our salt marshes are disappearing at an alarming rate.

For many years now, MCBP has collaborated with numerous local, state, and federal partners to discuss ways we can address this issue through prioritizing salt marsh habitats in our watershed, scientific monitoring, research, and restoration. This year we were excited to see some of that hard work and planning come to fruition with several new projects in the works! MCBP has been partnering with the US Fish & Wildlife Service, Assateague Island National Seashore, and other partners to design, monitor, and implement several salt marsh restoration projects throughout the Coastal Bays watershed. The goal of these projects is to address the impacts of mosquito ditching, restore the natural hydrology (movement of water across the marsh), and promote the revegetation of areas that experienced vegetation dieback. Over the next couple of years, MCBP will continue to implement several marsh restoration projects in Newport Bay, Sinepuxent Bay, and throughout the Assateague Island National Seashore.

Another goal for these projects is to restore critical nesting habitat for target species like the Saltmarsh Sparrow. Maryland’s lower eastern shore has historically had some of the best habitat for Saltmarsh Sparrows and hosts about 25% of the species global breeding population. The Saltmarsh Sparrow is an endangered species that solely depends on high marsh habitat for nesting. As a result of decades of marsh degradation and loss, this species’ population has declined drastically. Although our partner organizations are focusing on the Saltmarsh Sparrow as a target species, this restoration will benefit dozens of other species and create a resilient ecosystem.
MCBP would like to thank the numerous partners who are helping us restore this critical habitat in our watershed. We would also like to recognize and thank the landowners who are granting us the permission to access their property to implement restoration projects and conduct important scientific monitoring. Finally, we would like to thank the state and federal agencies that have granted us the funding for these projects!
It’s December 1st and I know you might need a few ideas for that Ocean City, Maryland lover on your list. Here’s a few things that came to mind for anyone who loves Ocean City, Maryland…and I was able to help with some direct links. Merry Christmas!

Let me just say it straight up: the Rising Tides Music Festival in Ocean City was all that—and yeah, I’m talking bag of chips included. There were so many highs, it was like trying to pick your favorite member of *NSYNC in 1999: basically impossible.
The Stage Access!
Color Me Badd at Rising Tides Music Festival.
First off, the stage setup was totally great. You could actually see what was happening without pulling a Stretch Armstrong move or getting elbowed by someone trying to “accidentally” shimmy their way to the front. The crowd had big “we’re all in this together” energy—no smushing, no drama, no “yo, that’s my spot!” vibes. If you showed up early, people respected it. And honestly, while they probably expected to sell more tickets (and deserved to), the fact that it wasn’t shoulder-to-shoulder packed made the whole thing way more chill. Zero chaos. Maximum good vibes.
The Bleachers in the Back
The Delphonics put on a great set sending is all back to the 70s.
And whoever decided to put elevated bleachers in the back deserves a holographic sticker. Those seats had primo views—nothing blocked, not even the soundboard plunked in the middle. It was like being at a concert designed by someone who actually goes to concerts. Wild, I know.
Fun For Everyone
O-Town looked like they had just stepped off the poster in my bedroom wall.
The festival was mad fun for all ages, too. You had kids and adults vibing on the roller rink like it was a Friday night at the mall in 1998. The hat bar? Totally rad. Corn hole? A whole mood. And the small vendor section was perfect—no exhausting line of booths to fight through. Drink prices were also legit—more local bar, less “sell your kidney for a margarita.” When it got loud or you needed a breather, you could step out to a sweet waterfront chill zone. No boiling-hot, sweat-dripping misery like some venues. Just breeze, space, and a snack. Perfection.
Room to Bust a Move
Vanilla Ice was like the guy in high school that everyone loved because he was so nice and funny.
Inside, there was room to bust a move, and trust me—we did. The music was a straight-up nostalgic dream: 90s dance hits, love ballads you forgot you remembered, and a sprinkle of 70s grooves. Basically the soundtrack of your childhood bedroom, your cousin’s basement, and every school dance combined. And the artists? They were exactly how we remembered them—fun, friendly, and totally stoked on reliving the 90s–2000s magic.
Easy Parking
Ryan Cabrera sang a ballad that we swooned over!
And can we talk about parking? Parking was a breeze. Like, actual free, easy, safe parking. That alone makes this festival legendary.
Level Up
Every N’Sync lover flipped over Chris Kirkpatrick’s dance moves.
Of course, even the best fests can level up. Next time, grouping all the photo ops together—and adding better lighting—would make it easier to snag those epic shots. And tossing in another beer stand or two would be a major win. No one wants to spend half their day waiting behind twenty thirsty people while their childhood crush is one stage.
Can We Do It All Again?
Brad from LFO gave memorable tributes to band members who he’s lost along the way.
But for real? Rising Tides came through like a chart-topping summer hit. It was laid-back, nostalgic, and totally unforgettable. We’re already counting down until we can do it all again—90s style. What do you say, Ocean City?

Get ready to be totally rad — Ocean City, Maryland is cranking up the volume for a major throwback bash this weekend as part of its 150-year anniversary celebration. The Rising Tides Festival, happening this Saturday (November 22) at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, is like a time machine back to your favorite ’90s and 2000s hits, sprinkled with some soulful ’70s flair.
Nostalgic Vibes Meet Coastal Energy
This isn’t just your average beach concert — it’s so tubular. There’s a silent disco, an indoor roller skating rink, brand activations, chill zones, and more. Whether you want to kick it old school with skates or dance to your own beat via wireless headphones, the festival’s got something for every ‘90s kid at heart.
The Lineup Will Blow Your Mind
The main event is the Forever Young Tour, hosted by none other than Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC, bringing major Y2K energy. Expect chart-toppers and feel-good throwbacks from Vanilla Ice, O-Town, LFO, Rob Base, Color Me Badd, Treach of Naughty by Nature, and Young MC. It’s a serious nostalgia overload — think mixtapes and Tamagotchis, but in real life.
And if you’re down for some classic soul, the 70’s Soul Jam kicks off earlier in the day (2–4 PM) with The Spinners, The Legendary Blue Notes, and William Hart’s Delfonics, hosted by J.J. Walker.
Why This Festival is Da Bomb
Milestone Celebration: This isn’t just another gig — it’s part of Ocean City’s 150th Anniversary.
Full Experience: Beyond the music, you can glide around on the rollerskating rink or turn up at the silent disco.
Coastal Nostalgia: It’s not just tunes — it’s beachside vibes, brand activations, and vintage-style swag to take home.
Unique Venue: Holding this at the Convention Center gives a cozy yet energetic feel, unlike big outdoor festivals.
Get in the Mix
If you’re planning to hit this weekend, here’s the playbook:
Snag your tickets — They’re on sale now via the official festival site.
Dress for a throwback party — Think neon windbreakers, baggy jeans, butterfly clips, or even retro skating gear.
Bring your crew or roll solo — Whether you were all about *NSYNC or Vanilla Ice growing up, this is a memory-making moment.
Plan to stay — Ocean City’s got hotel deals tied to the festival if you’re making it a weekend getaway.
So, if you’re jonesing for a dialed-back day of throwback tunes, roller skating, and chill beachy vibes, Rising Tides Festival is totally the move. It’s the ultimate coast-meets-mixtape moment — a celebration not just of Ocean City’s history, but of the soundtrack that defined a generation. Meet me on the roller rink — it’s gonna be all that…and a bag of chips (or maybe some Thrashers- and probably some wipe outs!)
