This Week in Ocean City in Pictures

Ocean City experienced a week of contrasts this week, moving from glorious blue skies and sunshine to a day of persistent cool temperatures, wind and rain. The town also celebrated its inaugural Ocean City Seafood Festival at Northside Park this past weekend. Early in the week, tranquil days offered a peaceful respite, soon followed by the exhilarating roar of motorcycles as OC Rock and Ride thundered into town. While Labor Day has ushered in a more relaxed pace, Ocean City remains vibrant with activity. Here’s a look at some moments captured this week in our favorite beach town!

OC Rock & Ride 2025: The New Era of Ocean City BikeFest

Ocean City’s legendary motorcycle rally is roaring back to life with a bold new identity. From September 10–14, 2025, bikers, music lovers, and coastal cruisers will gather for OC Rock & Ride, the reimagined continuation of the beloved Ocean City BikeFest.

From BikeFest to OC Rock & Ride

For more than a decade, Ocean City BikeFest brought riders from across the country to Maryland’s coast. Now, under new leadership, the tradition has been reborn as OC Rock and Ride — refreshed, rebranded, and rooted in community values.

The rally is now proudly owned and led by Matthew Odachowski and his son Tyler, Ocean City locals with deep ties to the area. Their vision ensures the event stays true to what bikers love most: the rides, the camaraderie, the vendors, and the open road.

“This isn’t just about an event. It’s about protecting a tradition that fuels our local economy, brings people together, and makes Ocean City come alive every fall,” said Matthew Odachowski.

Getting Back to What Riders Want

Over time, BikeFest became known for headliner concerts, but many riders wanted more: more cruising, more stunts, more time with vendors, and more chances to explore Maryland’s Eastern Shore. OC Rock and Ride is delivering.

This year’s rally will feature:

  • Cruzin’ the Coast Passport Ride – scenic group rides across three Maryland counties, from Crisfield to Salisbury, with stops at biker-friendly landmarks like Goose Creek Pit & Pub, the Skipjack Heritage Museum, and Roadie Joe’s.2025 route map cruzin the coast

  • Stunt shows and the Globe of Death – thrilling performances returning after years away.OC-bikefest-Stunts1

  • Vendor Villages – 85+ vendors with free admission to browse. Nonprofits can set up at no charge, ensuring the rally benefits the wider community.

  • Bike shows and prizes – showcasing custom craftsmanship and creativity.

Music, Fireworks, and National Acts

Of course, concerts remain a cornerstone of the rally. Over four days, 23 bands will perform, including rock legends and fan favorites: Queensrÿche, Quiet Riot, Slaughter, Lit, Uncle Kracker, and Jasmine Cain, alongside top regional acts.

Evenings at the Inlet close with fireworks, a heartfelt 9/11 Tribute, and the National Anthem. Expanded seating ensures a better concert experience than in past years.

The Iconic Ocean City Boardwalk Ride

bikes at OC Bikefest 2022

On Saturday, September 13 at 10 AM, the roar of engines will fill the Ocean City Boardwalk as 400 motorcycles cruise from 27th Street to the Inlet. This low-speed parade ride is a signature tradition of Bike Week in Ocean City and remains a highlight of OC Rock & Ride. ($20 cash at lineup, limited to the first 400 riders.)

Community Comes First

Rebranding BikeFest into OC Rock & Ride means more than a name change — it’s a shift in philosophy. Susan Jones of OCHMRA put it best: “For the community, having somebody local as the face behind the event means it’s easier to do business, and the focus is on what’s best for Ocean City and Worcester County.”

By expanding rides and vendor opportunities beyond the Inlet, the event spreads economic impact across Berlin, Snow Hill, Pocomoke, Salisbury, and Crisfield, ensuring the entire region benefits. Guitar auctions and nonprofit partnerships will also raise funds for local causes.

Plan Your Ride to BikeFest’s New Chapter

  • Event: OC Rock & Ride (formerly Ocean City BikeFest)

  • Dates: September 10–14, 2025

  • Locations: Ocean City Inlet & Convention Center, plus regional routes

  • Tickets: 4-day and 1-day passes at OCRockAndRide.com

  • Highlights: 23 bands, 85 vendors, Cruzin’ the Coast rides, bike shows, fireworks, 9/11 tribute, and vendor villages.

OC Rock & Ride 2025 is the new face of Ocean City BikeFest — a rally reimagined for riders, music fans, and the community. Get ready to cruise the coast, rock the Inlet, and celebrate the East Coast’s premier motorcycle tradition.

Tickets now on sale for Art League of Ocean City’s annual “pARTy of the Year”

OCEAN CITY, MD — Aug. 29, 2025 — The Art League of Ocean City announces tickets are now on sale for their annual “pARTy of the Year” to be held on Thursday, Oct. 9, 6-9 p.m. at Kalamata Meze Bar in West Ocean City. The theme of this year’s party is “Aladdin’s World” and is a major fundraiser for the nonprofit Art League.

“Party like a Sultan! Our annual get-together is the best party in town every year, and this year will be even more fun with a new exotic location,” Rina Thaler, executive director of the Art League, said. “Kalamata Meze Bar is the ideal spot for our Mediterranean-themed event that will include belly dancing and live music. This is more than a party.  It’s a night to celebrate the arts, connect with fellow supporters, and make a little magic.”

Guests will dine on modern Mediterranean delicacies, partake from an open bar of potable potions, and indulge in sumptuous Nori sushi, honeyed baklava, delectable desserts, and the famous Candy Kitchen candy bar.  An Aladdin’s cast of characters by the Lower Shore Performing Arts Co. will entertain and delight.

OC Orange Crush Trail is Always Free – and NOT an App!

Important Notice: The Orange Crush Trail Is Always Free on OceanCity.com

OC Orange Crush Trail

We’ve recently heard from a customer who thought they signed up for the OC Orange Crush Trail on OceanCity.com but were unexpectedly charged $50 by another website. We want to make it clear:

  • The Orange Crush Trail on OceanCity.com is always 100% FREE.  You download the FREE trail by filling out the order form on our site:  OceanCity.com, and you get coupons at participating locations for a $5 orange crush.
  • You will never be asked for a credit card or payment to join the trail.
  • If you see a charge, it did not come from OceanCity.com.

OC Orange Crush Trail logo
How This Can Happen

Sometimes when people search for “Orange Crush Trail” online, they may click on:

  • Paid ads from unrelated companies.
  • Look-alike websites.
  • Ticketed pub crawls or events in other locations using the “Orange Crush” name.
  • An APP from the Google Play Store or the Apple Store.  THE OC ORANGE CRUSH TRAIL IS NOT AN APP!

These sites may request payment — but they are not affiliated with us. OceanCity.com’s Orange Crush Trail is NOT AN APP.  You just go to the website, OceanCity.com/trails and download the trails you want.  You enter your email, your phone number and nothing else.

We did read a post on Reddit, where somebody downloaded a trail with a free trial from the APP store and was immediately charge $50.  Again, we ARE NOT AN APP.  You don’t get our trails from the APP Store.

How to Stay Safe

To make sure you’re on the official, free trail:

  • Always go directly to OceanCity.com/trails
  • Look for our OceanCity.com branding at the top of the page.

Remember, our trails are fun, rewarding — and always free.  THEY ARE NOT AN APP AND THEREFORE YOU CANNOT GET THEM ON YOUR APP STORE.

Spread the Word

We love that the Orange Crush Trail has become one of Ocean City’s favorite ways to explore bars and restaurants. Please help us spread the word so others don’t get misled: if it asks for payment, it’s not us.

Enjoy the trail, grab your $5 Orange Crushes, and cheers to keeping Ocean City fun while saving some money!

Step Into Adventure at Trapped Escape Rooms in Ocean City, Maryland

If you’re looking for a family-friendly, brain-bending adventure while visiting Ocean City, Maryland, Trapped Escape Rooms is an absolute must. With two convenient locations—Uptown at 11805 Coastal Hwy and Midtown at 8001 Coastal Hwy—Trapped offers seven uniquely themed escape rooms designed to challenge your mind and ignite your imagination.

School of Magic

I recently took on the School of Magic room at the Midtown location with my family, and let me just say—if you’ve ever dreamed of casting spells, solving magical puzzles, and unlocking ancient secrets, this is your moment. As soon as the door closed behind us, the countdown began. We had 60 minutes to uncover clues, crack codes, and escape. The room was fully immersive—filled with enchanted artifacts, glowing runes, and clever puzzles that had both the adults and kids fully engaged. I do have to admit that the ticking timer on the door was a little stressful!

What I appreciated most was how well the game was designed for mixed ages. While some puzzles required critical thinking and teamwork from the grown-ups, there were plenty of elements our 15-year-old could tackle on her own. And yes, even our 17 year old had a blast spotting hidden items. (You know sometimes teenagers are too cool for fun things.)

Themes for Every Interest

Trapped Escape Rooms, Ocean City, Maryland
The Lost Temple has an extra surprise, but we can’t tell!

Trapped Escape Rooms offers something for every interest. If magic isn’t your thing, check out Candy Rush (10/10 challenge level) or the pirate-themed Black Sail’s Lost Treasure—great choices for younger kids. Looking for a little more thrill? Try Poltergeist or Cabin in the Woods—popular picks for teens and adults who love a spooky twist.

Priced Just Right

Trapped Escape Rooms, Ocean City, Maryland
School of Magic would be perfect for wizardry fans!

Each room accommodates a different number of participants (typically 6–10), and yes, entire families can stay together in one room. Tickets are $35 per person, with kids under 13 at a discounted $29. Parking is free, and while the themes stay the same year-round, the experience is unforgettable every time.

Whether you’re planning a birthday outing or just want to try something new on vacation, Trapped Escape Rooms is open year-round—weekends in the winter, and daily during the summer and holidays.

Our magical escape was a hit—we made it out just in time! If you’re ready for a unique, memory-making experience in Ocean City, head to Trapped. Your next great adventure is just one locked door away.

Photo Friday Contest Winner August 28th 2025

This was the last week of our summer Photo Friday Contest, and what a week it was! For those who were here, the name “Erin” won’t be forgotten anytime soon. But as your photos prove, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate, a day in Ocean City is always better than a day at the office or school.

Despite the rough ocean and swimming restrictions, you all made the most of it. Your amazing photos show you building sandcastles, playing with dump trucks in puddles, and enjoying the Jeeps, local wildlife, sunrises, and sunsets. You captured the true spirit of Ocean City, which is all about playing and having fun with friends and family, no matter the conditions.

Thank you for sharing your memories with us. Our contest may be over for now, but we hope you’ll continue to capture and share your moments in Ocean City.

Here are some of this weeks photos from our Photo Friday contest.

Labor Day in Ocean City Md

Ocean City is a fantastic place to spend Labor Day Weekend and celebrate the end of summer. Summer-season businesses, rides, and activities are all still operating, and this year, it looks like the weather is going to be beautiful!

This might be your last chance to relax on the the beach this year, or watch the kids boogie board in the ocean. But there’s much more to do, and great reasons to stay in one of our hotels when you take advantage of their special deals available,  just for this weekend.

  • The beach still has lifeguards on duty this weekend, making it a great time to enjoy the warm ocean water and less-crowded shores. The restrictions put in place when Erin was around have now been lifted, so there are no restrictions on entering the water.
  • Sundaes in the Park with Fireworks: it’s the last Sundaes in the Park of the season this weekend and to celebrate KittybackClassic & Country Rock will be playing. Grab your chair or blanket and head to Northside Park from 7-9pm on Sunday for music, ice cream, and a spectacular fireworks show to end the evening.
  • Dining: Ocean City’s huge selection of restaurants and bars will be open all weekend with music and happy hour specials too. It’s also the perfect time to enjoy some fresh seafood or outside dining.
  • Fishing and Water Sports: You can take advantage of the still-warm weather for activities like boat rentals, fishing and  jet-skiing. Try Odyssea Watersports or Bayside Boat Rentals for boat rentals and jet skiing. Saltwater Adventures will take you fishing, providing all you need for a great family friendly fishing trip. Let someone else do the driving and consider taking a cruise around the bay over towards Assateague Island or up the ocean! The Angler, and Seacrets Cruises are two excellent options.
  • Have a game of Mini Golf! Nothing screams summer in Ocean City more than a game of mini golf, in fact, your visit should not be complete without at least one putt around a course. Try Nicks Golf or Old Pro Golf – you’re never too far from either!

Hotel Labor Day Deals

Let’s look at several pictures taken in Ocean City, Maryland over this past week between August 16 and August 22th.

Here’s some pictures of this thirty fourth week of 2025 in Ocean City.

This week was a week of significant changes. Starting with the nice weather weekend of August 16th and 17th and then dealing with the impacts of offshore Hurricane Erin later in the week.  It’s always exciting being on the island that we call Ocean City and the Delmarva Peninsula.

Hurricane Erin offshore effects

As Hurricane Erin traveled through the Atlantic and stayed clear of Ocean City, its strong winds and shore surge were definitely felt though.  For safety, the Town’s Ocean were deemed not accessible for several days. The large waves and ocean water over the beach made for many scenic photographs.

Jeep Fest 2025

Many jeep enthusiasts traveled to Ocean City to enjoy this event and particularly the “beach crawl” that allows registered jeep owners to travel on the beach from the Ocean City inlet to 30th Street.  Erin only affected Thursday, the first day of this event. There will be another jeep beach crawl held Sunday morning, too if you wish to check it out.  And the beach obstacle course, too, is located just north of the Ocean City pier.

Hurricane Erin Moves On, But Dangerous Rip Currents Remain in Ocean City, Maryland

0

Hurricane Erin may have moved away from the Delmarva coast, but her effects are still being felt along the shores of Ocean City. Although the skies have cleared, the sun is shining, and humidity levels have dropped, officials are warning that ocean conditions remain dangerous for swimmers heading into the weekend.

Exorbitant Amounts of Energy

Waves from Hurricane Erin crash into the Ocean City pier

Despite the picture-perfect beach day, Ocean City Beach Patrol (OCBP) Captain Butch Arbin urges visitors and residents to remain out of the water. “When hurricanes form, they pump a lot of energy into the ocean,” Arbin explained. “That energy doesn’t just disappear when the storm passes. Water is pushed toward shore, tides are higher than usual, and the surf becomes unpredictable and dangerous.”

Rip Currents

The most serious risks currently facing beachgoers include strong rip currents, higher-than-normal surf, and receding water levels — all signs of ongoing turbulence beneath the surface. According to the OCBP, these conditions are expected to persist through Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Public Safety

Rip currents can move faster than Olympic swimmers and are deadly for swimmers.

With summer winding down and schools starting back up, the city’s beach patrol is now operating with about 40% fewer lifeguards. The OCBP transitioning into off-season staffing levels. This reduction in personnel adds another layer of concern for public safety during a time when many visitors might underestimate the power of the ocean due to the calm weather above.

“Our motto has always been, ‘Keep your feet in the sand until there’s a lifeguard in the stand,’” said Captain Arbin. “That advice is more important now than ever. Don’t be fooled by sunny skies. The water may look inviting, but it can be deadly.”

As Ocean City enjoys the final weeks of summer, safety remains the top priority. Hurricane Erin may be gone, but her impact lingers in the waves — and the risks are very real.

Bai-Tee Bakery Opens on the Boardwalk at the Commander Hotel

A Sweet New Chapter from the Team Behind Spain Wine Bar

Ocean City has a brand-new culinary destination to buzz about: Bai-Tee Bakery, now open on the Boardwalk at the historic Commander Hotel. The latest creation from Peter Elias, the visionary restaurateur behind the popular Spain Wine Bar, Bai-Tee is far more than a bakery. It’s a dynamic experience that combines artisan desserts, deli-style favorites, a full bar, and one of the best ocean views in town.

For years, Peter has been known for elevating Ocean City’s dining scene with bold ideas, refined flavors, and unforgettable hospitality. With Bai-Tee, he brings that same fingerprint of excellence to a space designed to surprise and delight. Locals and visitors alike will quickly see that Bai-Tee is not your typical bakery—it’s a place to relax, gather, and savor Ocean City in style.

More Than a Bakery

elegance and deli style combine at Bai-Tee Bakery

Step inside Bai-Tee and you’ll immediately notice it feels different. Rather than a traditional bakery where guests simply grab a loaf of bread or a box of pastries, this new concept offers a walk-through service counter and deli-style setup. Shiny glass display cases overflow with desserts—everything from elegant, layered pastries to bite-sized sweets topped with fruit and glaze. Fresh breads and savory options line the counter as well, inviting guests to browse before choosing their favorites.

But Bai-Tee goes beyond sweets. The menu also offers deli plates, small bites, and seasonal creations that make it just as appealing for lunch or a light dinner as it is for a morning coffee stop. Whether you’re grabbing something quick to enjoy on the beach or settling in for a leisurely meal, Bai-Tee has something to suit every mood.

A Bar with a View

the inside bar at Bai-tee Bakery overlooks the deck - the boardwalk - and the Atlantic ocean

One of the bakery’s standout features is its full bar overlooking the ocean. While many bakeries focus solely on coffee and pastries, Bai-Tee leans into Ocean City’s vibrant food-and-drink culture by offering craft cocktails, wine, and bubbly. Drinks like the Ananas au Feu—a tropical blend of rum, banana, caramelized pineapple, cinnamon, and lemon—highlight the creative menu.

Guests can sip their drinks indoors while enjoying the stylish décor, or head outside to Bai-Tee’s elevated outdoor seating area. Located just above the Boardwalk, the terrace offers the best of both worlds: it’s close enough to feel the Boardwalk’s energy but high enough to provide a quieter, more relaxed experience.

A Stylish Gathering Place

Peter has a reputation for blending design, atmosphere, and flavor, and Bai-Tee continues that tradition. Inside, the bakery features sleek tiled walls, greenery, and chandeliers that create a modern yet welcoming vibe. The space is open and airy, encouraging people to stay and connect, whether for a casual breakfast, a mid-afternoon treat, or cocktails at sunset.

Special events, private gatherings, and group outings will also find a natural home here. With its combination of bakery, deli, and bar, Bai-Tee is versatile enough to host everything from family get-togethers to after-work meetups.

The Bai-Tee Experience

Peter Elias - owner of Bai Tee bakery offers treats to the attendees

At its heart, Bai-Tee Bakery is about celebrating the joy of food and the beauty of Ocean City. It’s a place where the community can come together, where visitors can discover something new, and where every detail—from the desserts to the drinks to the design—reflects a commitment to excellence.

For locals, Bai-Tee offers a fresh spot to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or evening cocktails with an unbeatable view. For visitors, it’s an experience worth adding to the vacation itinerary, capturing the flavors and atmosphere that make Ocean City such a special place.

With Bai-Tee Bakery, Peter once again proves that Ocean City’s dining scene can be innovative, stylish, and unforgettable. This new addition to the Commander Hotel and the Boardwalk isn’t just a bakery—it’s a bold step forward in the way we experience food and community at the beach.
