Let me just say it straight up: the Rising Tides Music Festival in Ocean City was all that—and yeah, I’m talking bag of chips included. There were so many highs, it was like trying to pick your favorite member of *NSYNC in 1999: basically impossible.
The Stage Access!
Color Me Badd at Rising Tides Music Festival.
First off, the stage setup was totally great. You could actually see what was happening without pulling a Stretch Armstrong move or getting elbowed by someone trying to “accidentally” shimmy their way to the front. The crowd had big “we’re all in this together” energy—no smushing, no drama, no “yo, that’s my spot!” vibes. If you showed up early, people respected it. And honestly, while they probably expected to sell more tickets (and deserved to), the fact that it wasn’t shoulder-to-shoulder packed made the whole thing way more chill. Zero chaos. Maximum good vibes.
The Bleachers in the Back
The Delphonics put on a great set sending is all back to the 70s.
And whoever decided to put elevated bleachers in the back deserves a holographic sticker. Those seats had primo views—nothing blocked, not even the soundboard plunked in the middle. It was like being at a concert designed by someone who actually goes to concerts. Wild, I know.
Fun For Everyone
O-Town looked like they had just stepped off the poster in my bedroom wall.
The festival was mad fun for all ages, too. You had kids and adults vibing on the roller rink like it was a Friday night at the mall in 1998. The hat bar? Totally rad. Corn hole? A whole mood. And the small vendor section was perfect—no exhausting line of booths to fight through. Drink prices were also legit—more local bar, less “sell your kidney for a margarita.” When it got loud or you needed a breather, you could step out to a sweet waterfront chill zone. No boiling-hot, sweat-dripping misery like some venues. Just breeze, space, and a snack. Perfection.
Room to Bust a Move
Vanilla Ice was like the guy in high school that everyone loved because he was so nice and funny.
Inside, there was room to bust a move, and trust me—we did. The music was a straight-up nostalgic dream: 90s dance hits, love ballads you forgot you remembered, and a sprinkle of 70s grooves. Basically the soundtrack of your childhood bedroom, your cousin’s basement, and every school dance combined. And the artists? They were exactly how we remembered them—fun, friendly, and totally stoked on reliving the 90s–2000s magic.
Easy Parking
Ryan Cabrera sang a ballad that we swooned over!
And can we talk about parking? Parking was a breeze. Like, actual free, easy, safe parking. That alone makes this festival legendary.
Level Up
Every N’Sync lover flipped over Chris Kirkpatrick’s dance moves.
Of course, even the best fests can level up. Next time, grouping all the photo ops together—and adding better lighting—would make it easier to snag those epic shots. And tossing in another beer stand or two would be a major win. No one wants to spend half their day waiting behind twenty thirsty people while their childhood crush is one stage.
Can We Do It All Again?
Brad from LFO gave memorable tributes to band members who he’s lost along the way.
But for real? Rising Tides came through like a chart-topping summer hit. It was laid-back, nostalgic, and totally unforgettable. We’re already counting down until we can do it all again—90s style. What do you say, Ocean City?

Get ready to be totally rad — Ocean City, Maryland is cranking up the volume for a major throwback bash this weekend as part of its 150-year anniversary celebration. The Rising Tides Festival, happening this Saturday (November 22) at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, is like a time machine back to your favorite ’90s and 2000s hits, sprinkled with some soulful ’70s flair.
Nostalgic Vibes Meet Coastal Energy
This isn’t just your average beach concert — it’s so tubular. There’s a silent disco, an indoor roller skating rink, brand activations, chill zones, and more. Whether you want to kick it old school with skates or dance to your own beat via wireless headphones, the festival’s got something for every ‘90s kid at heart.
The Lineup Will Blow Your Mind
The main event is the Forever Young Tour, hosted by none other than Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC, bringing major Y2K energy. Expect chart-toppers and feel-good throwbacks from Vanilla Ice, O-Town, LFO, Rob Base, Color Me Badd, Treach of Naughty by Nature, and Young MC. It’s a serious nostalgia overload — think mixtapes and Tamagotchis, but in real life.
And if you’re down for some classic soul, the 70’s Soul Jam kicks off earlier in the day (2–4 PM) with The Spinners, The Legendary Blue Notes, and William Hart’s Delfonics, hosted by J.J. Walker.
Why This Festival is Da Bomb
Milestone Celebration: This isn’t just another gig — it’s part of Ocean City’s 150th Anniversary.
Full Experience: Beyond the music, you can glide around on the rollerskating rink or turn up at the silent disco.
Coastal Nostalgia: It’s not just tunes — it’s beachside vibes, brand activations, and vintage-style swag to take home.
Unique Venue: Holding this at the Convention Center gives a cozy yet energetic feel, unlike big outdoor festivals.
Get in the Mix
If you’re planning to hit this weekend, here’s the playbook:
Snag your tickets — They’re on sale now via the official festival site.
Dress for a throwback party — Think neon windbreakers, baggy jeans, butterfly clips, or even retro skating gear.

Plan to stay — Ocean City’s got hotel deals tied to the festival if you’re making it a weekend getaway.
So, if you’re jonesing for a dialed-back day of throwback tunes, roller skating, and chill beachy vibes, Rising Tides Festival is totally the move. It’s the ultimate coast-meets-mixtape moment — a celebration not just of Ocean City’s history, but of the soundtrack that defined a generation. Meet me on the roller rink — it’s gonna be all that…and a bag of chips (or maybe some Thrashers- and probably some wipe outs!)

For more than two decades, Sandy Garrish has been bringing dancers from all over the region to the shores of Ocean City, Maryland for a weekend of rhythm, laughter, and community. Born and raised in Baltimore County, Sandy spent 15 years in Eldersburg before moving to Ocean City in December 1999. “I’ve lived here for 25 years now,” she says proudly — and in that time, she’s built a dance family that spans generations and genres.
Two-Steps Were Just the Beginning
Sandy’s journey began in 1988, when she learned how to two-step. By the following year, she and her then-husband were competing in country couples’ dance competitions. Teaching soon followed — two-step, swing, waltz, and eventually line dancing. “We started having dances in 1992,” she recalls. “I’ve taught all around central Maryland and Ocean City ever since.”
Dreams Do Come True
Costumes and of course dancing at The Grand.
When she moved to the beach, Sandy dreamed of one day hosting a weekend-long dance retreat there. That dream came to life in 2006, when she organized her first Ocean City dance weekend alongside the Light the Night charity walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Her team, “Sandy’s Strollers,” raised funds for four years — and the Halloween-themed weekend quickly became a cherished annual tradition.
Music, Movement, And Friendship
Dancing brings friends together for years as Sandy Garrish celebrates over 20 years of dancing in Ocean City.
Over the years, the retreat evolved from a single-night dance into a full three-day celebration of music, movement, and friendship. After a brief stint at the American Legion due to a booking mix-up, Sandy brought the event back to The Grand Hotel in 2024. “Everyone loves that they can see the ocean from their balcony,” she says. “It’s on the boardwalk, so they can walk, grab lunch, or even dance on their balconies between lessons.”
Sandy curates a welcoming mix of line dance and couples’ lessons, bringing in top instructors like Brandon Zahorsky, Joanne Brady, and Dancin’ Dean — a trio known for their humor and chemistry. Despite suffering a stroke in early 2024, Sandy’s resilience never wavered. She still managed registration, seating, and DJing duties for both the 2024 and 2025 retreats. “The stroke affected my left side, but not my mind,” she says. “I’m grateful I can still do what I love.”
Making Connections
Yes, it’s about dancing but the memories made with friends is immeasurable.
Her favorite moments come when dancers connect — old friends reuniting, new friendships forming, even couples celebrating anniversaries. “One couple met here three years ago,” she smiles. “They celebrated their third anniversary on Friday night.”
The soundtrack of her weekends includes upbeat favorites like “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran and “A Bar Song” by Shaboozy, songs that fill the ballroom floor in seconds. But beyond the music, it’s the sense of belonging that keeps people coming back. “It’s a big family,” Sandy says. “They know I care about them having a great weekend.”
No Signs of Slowing Down
A 3 day workshop is held in the ballroom of The Grand. People comes from all over to learn from accredited dance instructors.
After 20 successful years, Sandy isn’t slowing down. She dreams of building a new venue in Ocean City — one that could host up to 300 dancers, with ocean views and space for future generations of movers. “I’ll keep doing this as long as people want to come,” she says. “It’s about the people, the music, and the joy of dancing at the beach.”
For Sandy Garrish, every shuffle, step, and spin at The Grand is more than just a dance — it’s a celebration of life, resilience, and community by the sea.

OCEAN CITY, MD — Nov. 5, 2025 — The Art League of Ocean City invites the public to two free art classes where they will make wool “felted” creatures that will adorn the completed “Community Weaving Project.”
The two classes are free for ages 13 through adult, and will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 12-2 p.m. at the Ocean City Center for the Arts, 502 94th St. bayside. Walk-ins are welcome, and pre-registration is available at OCart.org/classes.
The Community Weaving Project came to life in 2024 by artist Beth Deeley of Ocean City, Md. as a way to celebrate the rewards of a group effort. A large Seascape Tapestry will be the end result of the project, created as individual small weavings by groups around the community, where each participant wove a row or two of the final tapestry. Deeley is now sewing the individual smaller panels together, and she will add the felted creatures and plants made at the Art League as the finishing touch.
“Our year-long Community Weaving Project is almost done,” Deeley said. “Now we need help of the community to create special adornments to make the weaving come to life. No experience is necessary. Just bring your imagination and desire to learn, and be a part of the Community Weaving Project.”
Felting is the art of rolling or pressing raw wool into shapes. For the seascape theme of the tapestry, the public will create aquatic-themed creatures like crabs, snails, and seagulls. Once the tapestry is completed, it will be displayed in a special exhibition in 2026. The project also has a wider goal.
“The bigger purpose [of the Community Weaving Project] is connecting people together,” Deeley said. “The year-long project goal is to bring weaving and fiber art projects into the community to create connection and emphasize the power of group effort.”
The project is an outreach program of the Art League of Ocean City.

The Ocean City music community and beyond are rallying to support Dave Parsons, a beloved concert photographer from Wheeling, West Virginia, after a tragic accident left him with severe spinal injuries during the Luke Bryan concert at the Countrys Calling Festival on October 4, 2025.
A Beloved Photographer
Dave’s favorite concerts to cover are the ones held here in Ocean City, Maryland.
Parsons, 60, has spent over 43 years behind the camera capturing the energy and emotion of live performances. Shooting for Breaking Scene Media, he’s been a familiar and friendly face at Ocean City’s festivals for the past three years, always quick with a smile and ready to share his passion for music photography. His favorite artists to capture include Tanya Tucker, Wynonna Judd, Green Day, Alice Cooper, and Fall Out Boy — a mix that reflects his love for music of all kinds.
What Happened Exactly?
On the evening of October 4, Parsons was doing what he loved most: photographing a concert. As he moved to make room for another photographer, he slipped and fell, striking his head on a concrete barricade. The impact caused damage to his spinal cord, leaving him without movement in his hands and legs. He was life-flighted from Ocean City, Maryland, to a trauma unit in Baltimore, where doctors performed emergency spinal surgery the next morning.
Since then, Parsons has remained in intensive rehabilitation. While doctors are optimistic that he could eventually regain 80–90% of his mobility, his recovery will require months of specialized therapy. He currently has no use of his hands or legs and needs assistance with even the smallest daily tasks. His family has shared that doctors and nurses have strongly emphasized the importance of their physical presence during his recovery — something that would provide both emotional comfort and essential help.
Making Progress
Parsons has been transferred to a rehabilitation facility in Morgantown, West Virginia- best in the state for spinal recovery. To help cover the costs of medical transportation, temporary housing, and travel expenses, Parsons’ family has launched a GoFundMe campaign.
“My dad has always been dedicated to his work and his community,” his family wrote. “Having us near him would be a tremendous weight off his chest. At this time, for example, he can’t even scratch his head or wipe his nose without help — we just want to be there for him.”
A Goal to Get to Boardwalk Rock
Despite everything, Parsons remains hopeful and deeply connected to the Ocean City music community he loves. “My favorite festivals every year are the ones C3 produces in Ocean City,” he said. “I really hope to somehow be back in the spring for Boardwalk Rock and the rest of the festivals.”
There is no cutoff date for donations, as his recovery will take time. Those wishing to support Dave Parsons can visit his GoFundMe page, where contributions will go toward helping him and his family through this difficult journey.
Through the lens of compassion, the community that Dave has spent decades capturing is now turning its focus on him — offering the same light and love he’s shared with so many others.

Ocean City’s Boardwalk will come alive with music, lights, and Jeep-themed Halloween magic as the Ocean City Jeep Club (OCJC) hosts its 9th Annual Drive & Disguise Parade and Trunk or Treat event this fall. Held in partnership with the Town of Ocean City, this family-favorite spectacle is one of the highlights of the Fall Activities, drawing visitors of all ages to enjoy the fun, the creativity, and, of course, the candy!
This year, 50 decorated Jeeps will roll out in full costume, each one showcasing the unique style, humor, and passion of its owner. Themes range from spooky pirates and haunted fishermen to breakout dinosaur herds from Jurassic Park. The parade begins at 3:00 PM at 27th Street and cruises down the beach, ending around 3:30 PM at Somerset Street, where the Jeeps will park and transform into themed candy stations for the Trunk or Treat portion, beginning at 4:00 PM.
For safety reasons, no candy will be thrown from vehicles during the parade, but kids (and kids at heart) are encouraged to visit the parked Jeeps for treats, music, and photo opportunities. Some Jeeps even play music to match their theme, enhancing the immersive Halloween atmosphere.
A Decade of Community, Fun, and Giving Back
The Ocean City, Maryland Jeep Club will be hosting their annual Drive and Disguise parade for Halloween on the boardwalk.
Founded in February 2015, the Ocean City Jeep Club just celebrated its 10-year anniversary. More than just a group of Jeep enthusiasts, OCJC is a family-oriented organization that has built a tight-knit community over the years. Membership is a one-time $60 fee per Jeep, and includes access for family, significant others, and anyone who shares the passion.
Being a member grants access to a members-only page, a growing network of Jeep lovers, and participation in over 27 events annually. From parades and off-roading adventures to fishing trips at Assateague and overlanding beyond the Delmarva Peninsula, the club offers something for everyone.
But what truly sets OCJC apart is its mission to give back to the community. Throughout the year, the club organizes and supports charitable efforts like the Worcester County Humane Society drive, Town Cats fundraisers, Toys for Tots runs, and school supply drives for Worcester Youth & Family Services. They also support the Somerset Arts Council and participate in beloved community parades like the St. Patrick’s Day and Christmas Parades. Notably, OCJC is the exclusive Jeep club of the Ravens Parade.
More Than Just Jeeps
Jeep lovers continue to show their holiday spirit!
What brings people into the club isn’t always the vehicle—it’s the community behind it. Many members join looking for a fresh start, friendship, or a support network. From young couples and retirees with new free time to widowed individuals or new residents in search of connection, the OCJC offers more than events—it offers family.
“We find that many folks join for personal reasons beyond ‘the Jeep,’” a club representative shared. “Whether it’s making new friends, finding people to offroad with, or just needing a fun, meaningful outlet—this club becomes something more.”
Looking Ahead
What would you disguise your jeep as???
While Drive & Disguise is one of OCJC’s signature fall events, the biggest event of the year is already marked on the calendar: Ocean City Jeep Fest, scheduled for August 27-30, 2026.
If you’re a Jeep owner interested in joining or collaborating with the Ocean City Jeep Club, you can email OCJCinfo@gmail.com. For updates on events, new member sign-ups, and public appearances, follow the club on Facebook.
Whether you’re there for the candy, the costumes, or the community spirit, the Drive & Disguise Parade and Trunk or Treat is a heartwarming reminder of what happens when passion meets purpose—one Jeep at a time.

Today we lost of a piece of local Ocean City history. The castle at the 28th street location of Old Pro Golf was razed to the ground.
Built in 1974, this two-tiered castle has been a beloved Ocean City landmark for generations. From the shadowy dungeon holes below to the upper level with sweeping views of the beach, it’s given countless families a chance to step back in time for an unforgettable round. Through the years, it’s seen many fresh coats of paint, but its signature waving flags and sturdy drawbridge chains have always stood proudly — a true symbol of Old Pro magic.
Now, the time has come for this legend to pass the torch. The castle closed its gates for good on October 13, 2025, and demolition took place October 22nd leaving space for an exciting new attraction arriving in 2026 — one Old Pro Golf are keeping under lock and key (for now 👀). As soon as we get word on what the new structure will be, you’ll be the first to know! And don’t worry — the golf course isn’t going anywhere. Only the castle is coming down, so when you return next summer, you can still enjoy a round at 28th Street and check out the brand-new attraction for yourself!
