Nothing makes you feel more a part of the Ocean City experience than getting out on the water; either in the Atlantic Ocean or in the bays behind Ocean City and Assateague.  You have options from easy to strenuous:  sail up the beach on the Alyosha, a catamaran that has sailed the world, or try kite-surfing or jet-skiing.  You can parasail in the bay, rent a pontoon boat or kayak, or try one of the many excursions on the OC Bay Hopper.  They offer weekly craft beer cruises, daily sunset and ice cream cruises and even wildlife excursions to look for dolphins, sea birds, crabs and clams.   Surfing is a popular sport in Ocean City, despite inconsistent waves – sometimes they are non-existent and other times they are fabulous.

Since the Ocean City Inlet was cut in the storm of 1933, Ocean City’s commercial and recreational boating fleets have exploded. Not only can you rent traditional head boat and charter boats, but you can also enjoy a plethora of recreational boating activities in Ocean City. Grab your family and friends and spend an afternoon cruising the bay. There are boats to rent – both motor boats and pontoon boats; boats you can hire – like the Alyosha for a sail, the OC Bay Hopper for excursions, and the Liquid Limo for private parties.  You can also hop on the OC Bay Hopper water taxi and travel up and down Ocean City while avoiding all the traffic.

There are lots of parasailing opportunities in Ocean City, MD.  You can fly over the bay and look across the tops of the hotels to the ocean.  You can also choose a company that will take you into the ocean.  Some lucky parasailers have even been out to watch dolphins and whales frolic beneath them.

If you think all watersports are engine powered and adrenaline pumping, you are mistaking. Kayaking is a human powered watersport that is ideal for exploring Ocean City, Md’s immense system of waterways, and offers just as much excitement as its high octane counterparts. The Kayak was first used by ancient hunters as a way to get close to aquatic wildlife and today people still use them to get close to wildlife, but more for the thrill of seeing animals interact in their natural habitats.
