Blue Angels take Flight over OC at 2015 Air Show

Each year, just before the calendar switches to summer, something special happens high above Ocean City, Md that captures the eyes and imaginations of those on the beach and boardwalk down below. The OC Air Show has become one of the most anticipated, most attended annual events in Ocean City and is set to return on June 13-14, bringing some of the country’s best military and civilian pilots and performers to the beach to showcase their skills over the breaking waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

The OC Air Show, now in its 8th year, features the top military jet demos, aerobatic performers, formation flight teams, and parachute teams from around the world, and 2015 will be headlined by the inaugural Ocean City performance of the world-famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

Representing the United States Navy and known internationally for death-defying stunts and eye-popping acrobatics, the Blue Angels are America’s premier military flight team. Having never performed at the OC Air Show, the Blue Angels are sure to put on one of their best acts yet when they take flight over the beach.

The Blue Angels will be joined at the 2015 Air Show by the international Breitling Jet Team and the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team. The F-22 Raptor is America’s superfighter and the only operational fifth-generation fighter aircraft in the world today. The U.S. Air Force limits air show demonstrations by the F-22 to only 20 per year due to there being only 186 F-22’s in the fleet. This is also the first time the OC Air Show will host an international performer as the Breitling Jet Team comes to town.

There will also be a wide variety of other Air Show related events and activities throughout the weekend, including breakfast with the performers and the Airshow Afterburner Party. The full list of events can be found at www.ocairshow.com/Schedule.php

The OC Air Show can be viewed in its entirety from beach and the Boardwalk for free, but better viewing options are  available to those wanting to get up close and personal with the action.  OC Air Show tickets range in price from $22 for “Drop Zone” tickets to $109 for “Flight Line VIP Clubhouse” tickets to $199 for “VIP Skybox” tickets. For more details about seating options and locations, visit www.ocairshow.com. To purchase tickets, visit: www.tickets.completeticketsolutions.com/OCA/Online/default.asp

If you’re looking for a place to stay during the OC Air Show, the Quality Inn Boardwalk– the official headquarters of the Air Show- is hard to beat; however, there are also many other hotels that not only offer easy access to beach viewing and Air Show activities, but also rooms with private balconies overlooking the action. These include, but are not limited to, The Park Place HotelDunes Manor Hotel and the Grand Hotel and Spa. We know words can’t possibly do the OC Air Show enough justice, so rather than us attempting to write about all the excitement, allow us to show you what you’re missing out on if you don’t attend:
