Boasting the only authentic raw bar in town, Harbor Watch Restaurant prides itself on purchasing the highest quality of hand tonged oysters from local waters. It is these delicacies that go straight into Harbor Watch’s locally famous Oyster Stew served exclusively at our raw bar. Clams are sustainably harvested from Virginia waters and the Maryland side of the Assateague Channel. In season, fish such as Flounder, Mahi Mahi, Swordfish and Tuna are pulled straight off the boats that dock at the Commercial Harbor in West Ocean City and served fresh the same day. During the summer, weekly trips to the Laurel Produce Market in Laurel, DE are made to hand select crisp sweet corn, juicy beefsteak tomatoes and some of the Eastern Shore’s sweetest watermelons.We invite you and your family to grab a seat at our Raw Bar or overlooking the Inlet and have an oyster or two and the freshest seafood dishes in town. About the Maryland Oyster Pledge
100 years ago shellfish filtered the entire volume of the bay several times a day, now with oysters at 1% of their historic abundance, this occurrence only happens every few months. By having Maryland Oysters on our menu, the Harbor Watch and other participating restaurants are helping to improve water quality and habitat in the Chesapeake Bay to bring this once thriving ecosystem back to life, while serving great, healthy, locally grown seafood product and supporting the ability to grow billions of oysters. With each adult oyster filtering up to 30 gallons of water a day, oysters are a keystone species in the revival of the economy and ecology of the Chesapeake Bay. Oyster aquaculture is growing fast in the state of Maryland. There are currently 300 oyster farmers with many selling their product to the public. The Maryland Oyster Pledge is a commitment to keep at least one Maryland Oyster on the menu at all times. This can be on the half shell or a shucked product. Please join other local businesses in helping to bring the oyster population back in the Chesapeake Bay.
