OCEAN CITY, MD — Sep. 17, 2026 — The Art League of Ocean City will host a FREE Horror Night featuring George A. Romero’s groundbreaking classic Night of the Living Dead on Saturday, October 17, as part of the Ocean City Film Festival's year-round programming.

The free community event will be held at the Ashore Oceanfront Hotel, 10100 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Maryland. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the film beginning at 7 p.m.

Presented as part of the Ocean City Film Festival, the evening will feature a special 16mm screening of Romero’s iconic 1968 zombie film. An 11x17 special edition movie poster announcing the event and designed by Eric Walter is available at the Art League of Ocean City while supplies last. Attendees are also encouraged to dress for the occasion and participate in a horror-themed costume contest, which will be judged by James Dufendach of OC Comic Con. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.

The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited, so guests are encouraged to arrive early. Libations and refreshments will be available for purchase.

The Art League of Ocean City extends a special thank-you to Image Ten and Eric Walter, Director of Lost Witness Films, for his invaluable assistance with advertising and for helping secure the rights to screen Night of the Living Dead. Walter’s support has helped bring this rare opportunity to Ocean City and allows the community to experience Romero’s landmark in a vintage 16mm format.

“Night of the Living Dead is a groundbreaking film whose influence has inspired generations of independent filmmakers and artists since its release in 1968,” said Walter. “We’re incredibly excited to share this beautiful print with our community and celebrate a film that continues to spark creativity and inspire new generations of storytellers working in the genre today.”

Registration is encouraged but not required. To register, visit canvas.artleagueofoceancity.org/events/44 or call 410-524-9433.
