The countdown is on for the 2026 White Marlin Open, and this year's tournament is bringing several exciting changes that anglers and spectators alike can look forward to.

While the heart of the world's largest billfish tournament remains the same, organizers have introduced new divisions, expanded eligibility, and extended festivities that promise to make this year's event bigger than ever.

6 Days of Fishing (Not Just 5)

The biggest change is the tournament's new six-day format. While boats will still fish three of the six tournament days, the expanded schedule gives anglers more flexibility in choosing the best weather and fishing conditions for their offshore adventure. The new format also means more opportunities for spectators to experience the excitement around Harbor Island as boats return to the scales throughout the week.

More Categories=More Fun

Another new addition is a pair of added entry categories designed to broaden competition. Anglers can now participate in a Charity Added Entry Level, giving competitors another way to contribute while competing, as well as a Non-Sonar Added Entry Level, offering a unique division for teams choosing to fish without sonar technology.

The Small Boat Division has also expanded. Previously limited to boats measuring under 40 feet, the category now includes vessels 40 feet and under, allowing even more crews to compete against boats of similar size.

The excitement won't stop at the scales. Marlin Fest has also been extended to match the tournament's new schedule and will now run for the full six days. Visitors can expect an even longer celebration featuring vendors, entertainment, food, and the electric atmosphere that has become synonymous with White Marlin Open week in Ocean City. These updates continue the tournament's tradition of evolving while preserving the competition that has made the White Marlin Open a bucket-list event for anglers around the world.
