Oceans Calling 2026 Photos: Crews, Flooding and Powerful Surf Before Festival Cancellation

These photographs were taken Friday morning, September 25, before organizers announced the cancellation. They document the effort underway at the festival site and conditions around downtown Ocean City at that time.

By Friday morning, downtown Ocean City was already full of people who had come for Oceans Calling. On the beach and around the stages, a large crew was still at work. Equipment moved sand, trucks stood near the stage structures, and workers continued preparing the site while a rough ocean crashed against the pier. Elsewhere downtown, tidal water covered parts of the streets.

Later, Oceans Calling organizers announced that the entire 2026 festival was canceled. They said a more westerly track of the nor’easter, tides, flooding and high winds had prevented crews from safely continuing the build. Tickets bought directly through Front Gate Tickets will be automatically refunded to the original payment method in as little as 30 days, according to the official festival update. Crews were still working at the Oceans Calling site

The morning scene was one of determined, visible work. Crews were at the stage structures and on the beach, while loaders and other equipment moved through the sand. The images capture a huge operation under difficult conditions. They do not imply that the site was safe to open; the organizers subsequently said they could not safely continue the build.

Rough seas and high water around Ocean City

The ocean was dramatic, with large, breaking waves beyond the beach and around the pier. Our photos also show standing water on downtown streets. Conditions varied by location, so anyone in town should follow posted closures and local safety instructions. Do not drive through flooded streets or enter the surf.

Visitors had already arrived

Even as crews worked and the weather dominated the view, people were already walking the Boardwalk. For those who traveled here, the festival cancellation is disappointing. The organizers encouraged visitors who are staying for the weekend to enjoy Ocean City and be safe.
