If you've ever taken a Seacrets Cruise, you may have been lucky enough to meet Captain Joel Davies! Let's get to know a little more about him!

Name: Joel Davies
Business Name: Seacrets Cruises
How many years have you been a captain? 20 years of on-the-water experience and 2 years as a licensed captain
When did you know you wanted to become a boat Captain? After retiring from law enforcement, I took a part time job working on the Miss Ocean City fishing boat as a mate. That led me to getting my captain’s license and eventually working for Coastal Cruises/ Seacrets Cruises!
What is your favorite part about being a captain? I love just being on the water and meeting new people everyday.
What's the most memorable experience you've had out on the water? It’s fun meeting all kinds of people from many different places, tourists and visitors, locals and people that have never been to Ocean City before, highlighting a new perspective from the water!
What do you hope guests take away from a trip with you? I want them to have a fun and relaxing experience. I hope they take in the sights and appreciate how awesome the back bay of OC is.
What is one thing visitors are always surprised to learn about Ocean City or the surrounding waters? I’m always asked how deep the water is in the back bay. They are so surprised to find out how shallow the water actually is.
When you're not on the water, how do you spend the off-season or unwind? I have a boat of my own and try my best to get out fishing with friends and family as often as possible.
Just for fun: If you could take anyone (past or present) out on your boat for a day, who would it be and why? I would have loved to take Jose Wejebe out on a fishing trip. He had a tv show called the Spanish Fly but unfortunately passed away in a tragic accident. I learned a lot from his show and admired his love for fishing and his passion for being on the water.
We'd like to thank Seacrets Cruises for letting us spend some time with Captain Joel! If you haven't had to opportunity to jump on a Seacrets Cruise yet this summer, now's your chance. You might even be lucky enough to meet Joel in person.
