Will Ocean City Be Ready for Country Calling by Friday?

Ocean City has less than a week to clean up after a brutal nor’easter — and another big concert weekend is already knocking on the door. The storm that rolled through this weekend brought relentless rain, powerful winds, flooding and significant beach erosion, ultimately forcing the cancellation of Oceans Calling 2026. Now the big question facing Ocean City is a simple one:

Will they be ready by Friday?

Country Calling is scheduled to take over the festival grounds Friday and Saturday, meaning crews have just a few days to repair, clean up and rebuild what Mother Nature battered over the weekend.

And there is another wrinkle: more rain is in the forecast. The wind during the nor’easter was brutal. The rain seemed never-ending. The beach took a beating, and the Oceans Calling festival site was left dealing with the aftermath of a storm strong enough to halt construction and force the festival's cancellation. But Ocean City wasn't exactly sitting around feeling sorry for itself.

The Party Went On

Even without the festival, visitors packed local restaurants and bars. Concertgoers who had traveled to town weren't going to let a canceled festival completely ruin their weekend. Bars were packed. Restaurants overflowed. And some visitors leaned into the absurdity of it all, taking sad-face selfies in front of the Oceans Calling seagull and french fry sign. Because apparently, if you can't see your favorite band, you might as well document your disappointment. Local businesses still saw plenty of activity — but now the attention turns to the beach.

A Race Against the Clock

Crews are already working to clean up and prepare the festival area for Country Calling.

But with only a few days between the storm and Friday's opening, there is a lot to accomplish.

“The storm has passed, and Ocean City is moving forward. Ocean City is open, the Boardwalk is open, and our community is getting back to business. Like many communities along the coast, our beach experienced erosion during the nor’easter. Our dunes did exactly what they were designed to do, helping protect Ocean City from the impacts of the coastal storm.

As conditions improve, residents and visitors may notice storm debris and changes to the beach. Town of Ocean City crews are assessing conditions and have already begun cleanup efforts. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors throughout the week and for this weekend’s Country Calling Festival.

And Then There's the Weather

After spending the weekend battling wind and rain, Ocean City is looking at another chance of rain as Country Calling approaches. That has to make everyone involved in putting on a massive beachfront concert a little nervous. This isn't the first time Ocean City's big music weekends have been at the mercy of Mother Nature. Oceans Calling has now had multiple years where weather has become a major part of the festival story.

The difference this time? There are only a few days to turn a storm-battered festival site into a concert-ready one. So the countdown is officially on. Will the sand be ready? Will the festival grounds be ready? Will the crews have enough time? And, perhaps most importantly, will Mother Nature cooperate?

Ocean City has until Friday to show us. And after this weekend, we're all watching the forecast.
