More Than Just a Boat Ride: Why Sea Rocket Should Be on Your Ocean City Bucket List

If you're looking for a fun way to experience Ocean City from a completely different perspective, it's time to hop aboard the Sea Rocket. Offering everything from relaxing sightseeing cruises to adrenaline-pumping watersports, this local favorite has something for every kind of vacationer.

I recently had the chance to experience the Sea Rocket Speed Boat and Dolphin Tour, and it's safe to say I can't wait to go back.

The View Was Unmatched

Departing from Dorchester Street near the Inlet, the ride starts with a leisurely cruise through the harbor before making its way toward the Ocean City Inlet. One of my favorite moments was rounding the jetty and getting a picture-perfect view of the iconic ferris wheel, the fishing pier, and the Ocean City beach from the water. It's a view you simply can't get from land and one that makes you appreciate the resort town from an entirely new angle.

A Relaxing Ride

The boat itself was surprisingly spacious, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy the ride. If you're looking to kick back even more, drinks are available for purchase onboard, making it easy to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ocean breeze.

Did We See Dolphins?

Of course, one of the biggest highlights of the tour is the chance to spot dolphins. While our trip didn't include a dolphin sighting, it definitely wasn't for a lack of effort. Captain Ashton and mate Owen were determined to find them, taking us around the jetty and over toward the Assateague Island side, where dolphins are frequently seen swimming and feeding.

Sometimes wildlife has other plans, and that's part of the adventure. If anything, it just gives me another reason to book the tour again.

Panoramic Views While Parasailing

While we were out on the water, another Sea Rocket adventure caught my eye. Watching guests soar high above the Atlantic on one of the company's parasailing trips looked absolutely exhilarating. Seeing the colorful parachutes floating above the ocean definitely added another item to my Ocean City bucket list. Maybe next time they'll let me trade the boat seat for a bird's-eye view of the beach!

What I Want to Try Next!

Sea Rocket offers much more than dolphin cruises. Visitors can also enjoy thrilling speedboat rides, parasailing adventures, banana boat rides (yes, please!), and other watersports throughout the summer season, making it easy for families, couples, and adventure seekers to find the perfect excursion. Another sought out attraction is their new fireworks cruises Thursday and Sunday evenings. I already added them to my calendar!

My verdict? 10 out of 10. Five stars. Highly recommend the Sea Rocket. Even without dolphins making an appearance, the scenery, friendly crew, relaxing atmosphere, and unique perspective of Ocean City made this one of my favorite experiences of the summer. I can't wait to head back—and hopefully next time, I'll be writing about my first parasailing adventure!
