Two separate events will create one big weekend in Ocean City. TEDx Butterfish Cove arrives September 18, followed by E-Volution Expo September 19–20, 2026, at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center.

Ocean City, Maryland, will welcome a remarkable weekend of big ideas, inspiring speakers and emerging technology when two independently organized events come to the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in September 2026.

TEDx Butterfish Cove will be held Friday, September 18, followed by the two-day E-Volution Expo on Saturday and Sunday, September 19–20.

TEDx Butterfish Cove and E-Volution Expo are separate events with their own organizers, programs and tickets. However, their back-to-back dates at the same Ocean City venue give visitors an opportunity to enjoy a full weekend of thought-provoking talks, new ideas and interactive experiences.

Two Independent Events, One Big Ocean City Weekend

Both events will take place at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, located at 4001 Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Maryland.

  • TEDx Butterfish Cove: Friday, September 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • E-Volution Expo Day One: Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • E-Volution Expo Day Two: Sunday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each event requires its own ticket. Attendees may choose either event or make plans to experience both during a September weekend in Ocean City.

TEDx Butterfish Cove Comes to Ocean City

For the first time, Ocean City will host a TEDx event.

TEDx Butterfish Cove will bring innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists, veterans, educators, healthcare professionals, artists and community leaders to the Performing Arts Center inside the Roland E. Powell Convention Center.

The independently organized TEDx event will feature two sessions of live talks focused on helping people live better, think bigger and create meaningful change.

Topics are expected to range from personal growth, leadership and resilience to health, technology, sustainability, creativity and entrepreneurship. Speakers will share original ideas, personal experiences and practical insights that attendees can apply to their lives, careers and communities.

The announced lineup includes behavioral scientist and The Fun Habit author Mike Rucker, PhD; entrepreneur and aviator Heather Chirtea; neuropsychologist Dr. Sunita Punjabi; author and exoneree John Huffington; Ocean 98 radio host David “Bulldog” Rothner; women’s health advocate Kristen LaRose-Gaasrud; chef Matthew Kern of One Coastal; and Smithsonian exhibit lighting designer Scott Rosenfeld.

TEDxButterfish Cove is independently organized under a license from TED. It is not part of or affiliated with E-Volution Expo.

E-volution Expo is about healthy lifestyles and life reimagined

E-Volution Expo Explores the Future

A separate event takes over the Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday when E-Volution Expo opens for two days of exhibits, demonstrations and expert conversations.

Presented by LifeMed Institute and produced by Mana4Life, LLC, E-Volution Expo focuses on four major areas:

  • Health and wellness

  • Sustainability and the environment

  • Electric and hybrid transportation

  • Artificial intelligence, technology and robotics

The event combines expo exhibits with expert panels, audience question-and-answer sessions, demonstrations, fitness activities and hands-on experiences.

Visitors can explore electric vehicles, smart-home technology, clean energy, robotics, biohacking, longevity, sustainable products and other future-focused solutions.

See a Flying Car in Ocean City

One of the most unusual attractions scheduled for E-Volution Expo is a BlackFly electric aircraft, commonly described as a flying car.

Attendees will be able to see the aircraft up close, take photographs and learn about personal electric aviation. Heather Chirtea—the first woman in the United States to own and pilot a flying car—is also expected to participate in the weekend’s scheduled programs.

Additional expo-floor experiences are expected to include body scanners, robot demonstrations, fitness activities, clean-energy drink samples, Tesla audio demonstrations, giveaways and a recycled-plastic bench raffle.

EV Test Drives, Expert Panels and Beach Yoga

Saturday begins with a community beach yoga class presented by YogaVibez from 9 to 10 a.m. on the beach at 40th Street, across from the Convention Center.

E-Volution Expo opens to the public at 10 a.m. Expert panels and live audience question-and-answer sessions are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Topics include health and wellness, electric transportation, artificial intelligence, technology and sustainability.

EV and hybrid ride-and-drive experiences are also planned from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Sunday, the expo continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with expert panels and EV test-drive opportunities scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tesla Light Show Planned for Saturday Night

Following Saturday’s expo, more than 150 Tesla vehicles are expected to participate in a synchronized Tesla Light Show in the Convention Center’s main parking lot.

The show is scheduled for 9 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19. The participating vehicles will use their headlights, exterior lights and other features to create a coordinated nighttime performance.

Although TEDx Butterfish Cove and E-Volution Expo are not affiliated, their consecutive dates give travelers even more reasons to visit Ocean City September 18–20.
