What’s New in Ocean City? 2011

Some things in Ocean City are staples. Traditions. Things that will never change.  If you haven’t visited Ocean City in 2011 yet, you’re in for a treat! There’s a lot that’s new in Ocean City and the surrounding areas plus your favorite old-time places, restaurants, and hotels.  Below are a few of the latest attractions and new things in town that will beckon travelers to Ocean City all year round.

The Howard Johnson Plaza is already one of the most comfortable places to stay while vacationing in Ocean City. To make things even better, the hotel has recently put all new pillow-top bedding in each and every room. There are many upgraded bathrooms in the plaza that feature walk-in showers, new lighting, and fresh mirrors. You’ll also notice a new lobby market where you can pick up your favorite snacks and non-alcoholic beverages before you hit the beach.  The Howard Johnson Plaza is located on the boardwalk with oceanfront views on 12th Street in Ocean City. Great upgrades for 2011!

The Days Inn Oceanfront, on 23rd Street and the boardwalk, has upgraded their suites for the summer season. There are newly renovated Caribbean Oceanfront Suites that feature expansive private balconies, new bathroom lighting, and new mirrors just waiting for you to book your summer getaway.

The Howard Johnson Inn, your favorite Ocean City hotel, has upgraded the bathrooms in every room throughout the hotel. The new bathrooms feature spacious walk-in showers, new lighting fixtures, and shiny new mirrors. The Howard Johnson Inn is located on 24th Street and the boardwalk right next to the ocean. With a pool, the beach, new upgrades, and the Satellite Coffee Shop, why stay anywhere else in 2011?

Castle in the Sand is an Ocean City icon. This hotel has become a ‘go-to’ spot for vacationers for decades. The Castle’s Bayside Penthouse rooms and Oceanfront Penthouse rooms have been fully remodeled for 2011. Band new queen Eurotop bedding, linens, and beautiful furniture have been added to each penthouse. The Castle in the Sand is located on 37th Street in Ocean City. Enjoy beautiful sunrises, the sandy beach, and lots of sun at the Castle this year.

The Marigot Beach Condos have been renovated for 2011. Marigot Beach Suite rentals are conveniently located at 100th Street and the ocean in OC. The new, pretty, and fully furnished oceanfront suites offer a sun deck, indoor swimming pool, and seasonally operated whirlpool on site.

The Grand Hotel just opened their new Acqua Day Spa and will soon be known as the Grand Hotel & Spa.  How relaxing! Feel pampered and stress-free while staying at the largest hotel on the boardwalk in Ocean City. The Grand is located just a few steps from the beach on 21st Street and the Boardwalk. Stay tuned for more spa packages from The Grand!

Starting the weekend of July 4th, 2011, Lenny’s Deck Bar will have top 40 bands playing from 4 to 9 pm nightly. Hang out under the stars on the beach at 101st Street this summer. Lenny’s is known for their delicious tropical drinks, huge beer burgers, jumbo hot dogs, and perfectly grilled chicken. Lenny’s says, “Come early, stay late!”

Horizons Oceanfront Restaurant, located inside of the Clarion Fontainebleau Resort on 101st Street, will be showcasing the culinary talents of Chef Paul Bryan this year. Horizons is planning many new seasonal menus to keep things spicy and refreshing.  Chef Paul Bryan runs around the restaurant wearing a tall chef’s hat and is eager for you to try his latest dishes at Horizons.

A new oceanfront restaurant, Brother’s Bistro, has opened on 12th Street and the Boardwalk. The restaurant overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.  This restaurant and bar serves modestly priced meals and drinks served quickly. Stop by the brand new Brother’s Bistro and enjoy a great meal by the shore.

Looking for a good cigar? Johns Premium Cigars just opened this month in downtown Berlin, MD. Johns Premium Cigars is located on Broad Street right next to the Globe Theater. Owners, Jeb Deickman and Jamie McDonald, have done a fantastic job making this cigar shop feel cozy and sophisticated. Pick from a great cigar selection including Rocky Patel, Perdomo, Drew Estate, Oliva, 5 Vegas, Man O War, hand-rolled Dominicans, and many more.

Ocean City is going green in 2011! The town of Ocean City has been advancing their eco-friendly efforts lately. Building inspectors, city managers, and other town-operators will be driving hybrid cars this year. Hybrids are ideal for the stop-and-go-traffic in Ocean City during the summer because they only use gasoline when traveling over 30 miles per hour. Ocean City has also purchased several Segways for the town’s workers to use. Segways are 2-wheeled, battery operated vehicles that release very little carbon while running. Select workers in the town will be using these vehicles while on duty.

In need of new amusements? There are several new things happening at Jolly Roger Amusement Park for the 2011 summer season. There have been new additions to the Jungle Golf miniature golf course to make the green more exciting as well as a new 3-D Morbid Manor haunted house. Be sure to check out the Xtreme Ziplines at Speedworld, too! This sounds very exciting. Ziplines in Ocean City! Jolly Rogers is located on 30th Street and Coastal Highway.
