The start of the new year has come and gone. Many people have made resolutions to improve their lives and make 2013 a banner year. So if you want to get out and get fit, broaden your horizons or just have a great time, there are plenty of things to do in Ocean City to make this year your best year ever.
For those of you who want to increase their health and fitness levels for 2013 Ocean City has one of the best parks and recreation systems in the area. The good news is that almost all of the venues are open to the public and free of charge. Northside Park, Located on 125th street bayside, is Ocean City’s largest park. With over 50 acres of space available, there is no shortage of fun things to do here. Walking/jogging paths, two playground areas, fishing lagoon, multiple team sports fields and gymnasium are just some of the amenities located here. The playground and walking/jogging paths are open year round during normal park hours. If you want to beat the winter chill by getting fit in a controlled environment, there are several top flight fitness centers to get your blood flowing. World Gym of Ocean City, Maryland is located on 67th Street bayside. They offer daily, weekly, monthly and year round memberships. World Gym is a full service gym with amenities like free weights, machines, cardio equipment and several classes so you don’t have to workout alone. Its good to train the body but the mind shouldn’t be neglected either. So to put on some intellectual muscle, the Ocean City branch of the Worcester County Library is here to help. The Ocean City library is a full service library with a diverse array of activities and events from A-Z. They offer one-on-one training for basic computer/e-reader skills and other classes as well. The Art League of Ocean City is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to growing the visual arts culture in and around the Ocean City community. At the moment construction is ongoing for the League’s new home, but you can still get your art fix as the Art League has temporarily moved to the former Susquehanna Bank building on 94th Street and Coastal Highway. Last but not least, Ocean City bars and restaurants serve as a bastion for live musical culture and entertainment. The Ocean Club Night Club, located in the Clarion Ocean City Resort, Has Power Play taking the stage at 9:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Harborside Bar & Grill, in West Ocean City’s commercial harbor, has Opposite Directions playing Sunday afternoons from 2-6pm. Seacrets has live bands on Friday and Saturday, and Fager’s Island Ocean City, has DJ Hook on friday and DJ Groove on Saturday.
