Labor Day has come and gone, taking all the excitement of summer with it, right? Wrong. Ocean City, Maryland is awesome every day of the year. Just because the temperatures are dropping and you’ll be spending Sundays watching football instead of waves crash on the beach, doesn’t mean it’s time to go into hibernation mode quite yet. Here is a look at the events, activities, and things to do in Ocean City this coming week to help you keep fall at bay for as long as possible:
– Crabs don’t know summer is supposed to end with Labor Day and, therefore, are still hanging around for our consumption. Tuesday September 10 is the Knights of Columbus’ Hard Crab and Crab Fluff Dinner behind St. Luke’s Church from 5-7pm. Your $20 ticket gets you the choice of fried hard crab, crab cake fluff (2) or crab cakes (2) with corn on the cob, salad, and rolls. There will also be a cash bar available. Tickets to these dinners go quickly, so you are encouraged to book reservations by the weekend to ensure your spot at the table.
– Next Wednesday marks the 12 year anniversary of one of the most infamous days in American history: the 9/11 attacks. Each year, Ocean City hosts a Parade of Brothers motorcycle ride and memorial service to commemorate the victims and heroes of this national tragedy. Join them on the Boardwalk from 8:30am-1:00pm as they make good on the promise “Never Forget.”
– The impending arrival of fall means the start of the fall festival season in Ocean City. Thursday September 12 kicks off the weekend long motorcycle rally known as OC Bikefest. This celebration of Harely’s, choppers, and sport bikes brings national recording artists Jackyl, War, Foghat, and Three Dog Night to Ocean City for one last rally, and will also feature a 3-day poker run put on by the Hogs and Heroes Foundation. Look for more coverage on OC Bikefest in next week’s recommendations.
– As the 2013 summer season starts to fade into fall, don’t forget to cast your vote for our annual Best of Ocean City awards. Best of Ocean City 2014 online ballots are being collected now through the end of the year, so visit our voting page and help your favorite businesses and attractions get the recognition they deserve.
