Wedding Season in Ocean City

Wedding planners from the Mid-Atlantic Region are discovering a totally new venue for wedding sites, receptions, guest accommodations and all of the parties and event leading up to one of the most treasured days of a lifetime.

Planners are traveling from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Annapolis and Philadelphia to tour the Eastern Shore’s many historic sites that befit a bride’s vision of an event not to be forgotten. Unique and filled with tradition, each site offers an experience from another century.

Our historic Saint Martin’s Church, pictured above, is an 18th century Flemish brick building 20 years older than out Declaration of Independence. The Atlantic Hotel in Berlin is a 116 year old restored historic property with 18 Victorian period guest rooms, a ballroom, a ladies parlor and a famous historic restaurant. The Rackliffe House is an 18th century manor house situated close to Assateague Nation Seashore and State Park. Their restoration will soon by complete and a perfect venue for any number of events from a rehearsal picnic dinner to a wedding. The Merry Sherwood Plantation and Gardens is a lovely restored home with guest rooms and magnificent gardens appropriate for lovely wedding events.

Weddings are simply spectacular bathed in candlelight and surrounded by tall pines. The natural setting of historic Saint Martin’s Church is magnificent. Its 255 year history is a quiet statement to the longevity of our commitment to these historic structures. After the ceremony, guest can gather under the pines for a champagne toast before leaving for the reception. The area is also large enough to be tented for an outdoor wedding or extended cocktail party prior to the reception.

The Atlantic Hotel is centrally located in the Village of Berlin in the Historic District surrounded by antique and boutique shops, art galleries, a tea room,  a coffee house, restaurants and a collection of beautifully restored homes. The guest rooms are restored with beautiful linens and bedding.  Guests have the convenience of casual and fine dining, a gracious ballroom and a service staff to handle your every need. Wedding brunches, luncheons, dinners, cocktail parties and receptions are customized to your desired expectation.

Rackliffe House has recently been totally restored to its former pristine design and will soon be ready to be part of the Ocean City area’s exciting historic sites. Wedding ceremonies, parties, wedding-related events and even outdoor gatherings will soon be available at this 18th century manor house. The location is one of beauty, situated alongside the National Assateague Seashore when your wedding party, children and all, can enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities.

Merry Sherwood Plantation’s history was predicated on the marriage of a daughter promised only if the intended groom built a home of suitable proportions, thus the creation of Merry Sherwood. Built in 1859, the pre-Civil War structure was designed for lavish parties and accommodating guests of long duration. Today, Merry Sherwood is a perfect site for continuing this 152 year old tradition.

The historic significance of these four memorable treasures will become part of ever prospective bride’s wish list for her own private collection of wedding dreams. Using one or two or all four of the sites for your wedding-related events, the bride and groom, families and friends will never forget their wonderful wedding on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
