Water, Water…Everywhere!

If you are in Ocean City this week, you may notice a couple of changes as you drive down Coastal Highway. The speed limit, normally 40 mph through North Ocean City, has been reduced to 30 mph, and Downtown, the speed limit has also been reduced. This is due to the expected, unauthorized H2Oi Pop-Up Rally.  It is reasonable to expect heavier than usual traffic, noise and strict enforcement of vehicle laws during the week and weekend.

The beautiful town of Ocean City, Maryland offers numerous water activities for those vacationers looking to have fun in the water.  From waverunners and speed boats to kneeboards and canoes, OC has it all when it comes to watersports.

Up and down Coastal Highway there are various waverunners rentals.  Some of the rental places include: Paradise Watersports (Route 50 bridge), Inlet Sea Doos (the Inlet), Island Watersports (304 Dorchester St.), OC Bayside Rentals (307 Dorchester St.), OC Jet Skis (Talbot St. and Bay), Ocean City Watersports (1st St. and Bay), Baysports Unlimited (22nd St. and Bay), Odyssea Watersports (50th St. and Bay), Action Water Sports (52nd St. and Bay), and Advanced Marina (66th St. and Bay).  Most waverunner rentals offer coupons such as $10 off anytime and $20 off before 10a.m.  Coupons can be found in Ocean City visitor guides and coupon books.

In addition to waverunners, there are several different types of boats to rent in Ocean City.  Some boats available to rent are jet boats, paddle boats, pontoon boats, ski boats, sailboats, bumper boats, and mini speed boats.  Boat rentals have similar coupons offered as waverunner rentals.  Typically, boats are rented for either two hours or four hours at a time and prices vary depending on each rental spot.  Also, it is recommended to make reservations when renting a boat.

Kayaks and canoes are offered in specific locations in OC.  Kayaks can be found at 48th St Watersports and Skarks Cove in Fenwick.  Assateague Explorer, which is located at the Talbot Street Pier, offers kayak tours around Assateague.  It is an opportunity to explore the Assateague Lighthouse and see bald eagles, dolphin, and wild ponies.  Canoes are located at MD Coastal Bays in Assateague.  Also, there is the Pocomoke River Canoe Company in Sno Hill.  The variety of wildlife and the river’s flat water make the experience very enjoyable.

Parasailing, one of the more popular watersports, is available at several locations.  O.C. Parasail which is designated entirely for parasailing has two locations (Talbot St. and 54th St.).  Another location that offers parasailing rides is Bay Sports Unlimites (Old Town Parasail), which is located on 22nd Street and the Bay and has views of Ocean City and Assateague Island.

Renting a watercraft in Ocean City is fun and exciting for the whole family.  There are plenty of locations to rent with great deals and coupons.  Also, there are qualified tour guides to show stunning waters of Ocean City.  The memories are sure to last a life time.
