This week in OC: September 12-18, 2014

With the annual phenomenon known as OC Bikefest officially underway, Ocean City, Md is home to one of the largest motorcycle rallies on the East Coast this weekend. From stunt shows and celebrity appearances to amazing music and contests, OC Bikefest, which is part of the greater Delmarva Bike Week, is your home for all things choppers and street bikes, so fire up your Harley, Honda, or Ducati and make your way to the Inlet Parking Lot and Convention Center for one of the fall’s biggest festivals!

– Ever wanted to set sail on your own boating adventure? Take the first steps to being your own captain by attending America’s Boating Course this Tuesday, September 16, at the Ocean Pines Library. The course covers basic boat handling, navigation, federal and state regulations, rules of the road, aids to navigation required equipment and more. Registration begins at 6:30pm with the first class beginning at 7:00. A nominal charge for course materials is required to attend. -The first annual “Brews for Boobs” series launched this week, giving craft beer lovers- and everyone else- the chance to join the fight against breast cancer. Brews for Boobs fundraisers will take place every Thursday at a different Ocean City area brewery and will feature raffles, 50/50s and other activities and opportunities to donate. A portion of all proceeds will be given directly to the local chapter of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer to help benefit research by the American Cancer Society. Find full details about this charity series here.

-The wait for Ocean City’s most anticipated and most popular festival is almost over as Sunfest returns for the 40th consecutive year beginning Thursday, September 18. The Inlet Parking Lot will be home to this 4-day festival that features top national recording acts, an endless array of arts and crafts, Eastern Shore fair food favorites, activities for every member of the family, and more! -One of the newest facets of Sunfest is also one of the most spectacular. Don’t miss the annual Kite Fest on the beach in front of the Kite Loft during the entire duration of Sunfest. Whether you want to fly a kite, attend a workshop, watch a mid-air battle, or simply take in the beauty of dozens of kites doting the Ocean City sky, Kite Fest is a must attend event if you’re in town between Septmber 18-21.
