Ocean City

This Week in OC: June 7-13, 2013

Stunt planes are speeding around the sky, crazy cars are cruising the streets, and the beaches are filling with tourists and high school graduates, it must be June in Ocean City, Maryland!  Tropical Storm Andrea may loom on the horizon, but here in OCMD, we never let a little rain get in the way of having fun!  This coming week is jam packed with fun events and activities to keep you entertained, rain or shine.

For the 6th straight summer, the ultimate aviation experience known as the OC Air Show returns for a weekend of speed, stunts, and eye-popping aerobatics.  For the first time ever, the OC Air Show features an all civilian line-up, headlined by the Sea Harrier and the Red Bull stunt helicopter.  The Sea Harrier is known for its vertical take offs that do not require a runway and reaches speeds up to 600 mph.  The Red Bull stunt helicopter is the only U.S. helicopter licensed for inverted tricks.  The event will also include formation demos, parachute jumps, and other displays of speed and skill from some of the nation’s top pilots.  This event can be viewed for free from the beach and boardwalk and premium rooftop tickets are also available.

A new weekend means a new group of graduates will be embarking on Ocean City for the rights of passage into adulthood known as Senior Week.  Our Top 10 Activity Guide was designed to help senior weekers have the best beach week imaginable, but it’s full of great ideas for anyone looking for inspiration on how to spend their vacation, or rainy day at the beach.  From shopping to water sports, it truly has something for everyone.

12th Annual OC Car and Truck Show returns to the Roland E. Powell Convention Center. Ocean City, Maryland 2013

This week also marks the 12th annual OC Car and Truck Show, one of the biggest of it’s kind on the east coast.  The Roland E. Powell Convention Center is your epicenter for all things automotive this weekend, including “8th Fest” on Saturday and the Mega Meet on Sunday, rain or shine.  Prizes will be awarded, national vendors will be on hand, and Fat Joe will take the stage Saturday.  This isn’t an car show, it’s a party you don’t want to miss!

If Andrea happens to rear her ugly head in Ocean City this weekend, indoor mini golf is a great way to stay entertained, and dry.  Our ‘Best of 2013’ winner, Old Pro Golf, has indoor courses at its 68th Street and 136 Street locations to help you putt away those rainy day blues.

For more indoor (and outdoor) entertainment and activity options continue reading below or check out our Appearing Live and Out & About listings, ‘like’ us at facebook.com/ocfun, and follow us on Twitter @ocfun.
