Things To Do in Ocean City Week of April 12th

March has finally let go of its madness and has given way to April. With the true arrival of spring the great weather has become the main attraction in Ocean City. All along Coastal Hwy. shops and other venues are beginning to shake off the cobwebs and come out of their winter hibernation. This time of year OC is at its most charming; so here is a list of for some of the best attractions and things to do in Ocean City this week and weekend so you can enjoy the best that spring has to offer.

Ocean City Events

There will be an MS Walk the Boards Event on Saturday April 13th. The walk is a 5k event along the famous Ocean City Boardwalk and the goal of this walk is to help in creating a world free of multiple sclerosis (MS). In case you haven’t had your fill of basketball, the Northside Park basketball tournament returns this weekend. The open tournament is put on by the fantastic folks of the Ocean City Parks & Recreations department and will run all weekend. The tournament is open to teams and players of all ages and abilities and is designed to test their skills against others. A tournament champion will eventually be crowned. For those of us who have a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit or like to call themselves a savvy shopper there will be a Spring Indoor/Outdoor Flea Market at the Ocean Pines Community Center. The center is located at 235 Ocean Parkway -enter through the north gate- in Ocean Pines, MD. The flea market runs from 8am until noon. Admission is free and refreshments will be available. Here is a great chance to get some spring cleaning done and make a little profit from those clothing and gently used items that have been gathering dust. Indoor and outdoor spaces will be available. Non-residents space reservations are only: $20 for indoor spaces and $15 for outdoor. Ocean Pines residents will receive discounted rates for reservations. For a great day trip and a chance to enjoy the great outdoors, the Lower Shore Family YMCA, 1900 Worcester Highway in Pocomoke, presents:Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day. This is a mostly off tarmac event which features dirt trails as well as a paved loop course. Registration starts at noon, with the ride starting at 1pm. There will be a trail building demonstration put on by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) which will begin at 2pm. The ride is open to riders of all levels and refreshments will be provided at 3pm. Riders having a IMBA and/or Eastern Shore IMBA members card or membership number will not have to pay a registration fee. Registration for riders without membership is only $5. Ocean City Nightlife

Things are really begining to wind up on the nightlife circuit here in OC. With the onset of beautiful spring weather, more and more people are making weekend trips. Ocean City bars and restaurants have geared up by supplying some of the best preseason live entertainment acts and DJ’s on the east coast. Here is a quick rundown of some of the best places for entertainment this weekend:

-THE BAMBOO LOUNGE (located in the Carousel Hotel) on April 12 will feature: Only Better performing from 7-11pm.

-FAGER’S ISLAND has live entertainment all weekend long. On Friday DJ Hook plays all your favorite dance jams beginning at 9pm with Jumper taking the inside stage 10pm. On Saturday DJ Groove takes over the deck at 9pm with legendary party band Animal House on the inside stage at 10pm. Sunday brings a little slower pace as the “should be famous” Jazz Brunch w/ Everett Spells runs from 11am to 3pm.

-GALAXY 66 has mellow smooth sounds of Philly George on Friday April 12 from 8pm-midnight. On Saturday  DJ Rob Cee takes over the party controls spinning all the latest house and party music from 8pm-midnight.

-OCEAN CLUB NIGHTCLUB (In the Clarion Ocean City Hotel) features Power Play providing the live entertainment on Friday and Saturday beginning at  9pm on both nights.
