What are your plans for this weekend and the upcoming week? I would like to suggest a trip to Ocean City, Maryland. Sure, weather forecasters are calling for a little snow Friday afternoon and evening, but traditionally the beach gets significantly less snow than inland areas most likely including your hometown. Forecasters are calling for a range of snow accumulations in the Ocean City area from a dusting up to three inches of snow. Have you ever seen the snow on the beach in person? It is beautiful! If you have never seen it, why not escape your hometown for the weekend and make your way to the beach. Bring your camera, because snow on the beach makes for some outstanding photos. With room rates at their lowest this time of year a trip to the beach is an affordable option. Check out our online reservation system for a complete listing of hotels and room rates in Ocean City.
As for things to do in Ocean City this weekend and upcoming week, there are several options:
Assateague – Just a few miles outside of Ocean City, Assateague is home to wild ponies, a variety of birds and foxes. Take a tour of Assateague, view the wildlife and walk on the clean sandy beaches. As you enter Assateague, be sure to stop at the Visitors Center where you will find information about the wildlife and other interesting facts about the area.
Explore nearby Berlin, Maryland – Sure you have been to Ocean City, but do you ever venture outside Ocean City to see what there is to offer? Why not take a day trip and explore the towns immediately surrounding the beach. Berlin is located just 10 minutes West of Ocean City. Did you know that Berlin has had two movies filmed in part there? Remember Runaway Bride and Tuck Everlasting? Both of these films used the little town just outside of Ocean City for filming. Berlin also has several shops right on and around Main Street. You will find antique shops, art galleries, boutique stores and more! There are also a few dining options right in town. The Globe, Raynes Reef, Atlantic Hotel and Tex Mex and Beyond are all in walking distance of the shops. After you eat, don’t miss the Baked Dessert Cafe for some of the most delicious desserts in town.
Shopping and dining in West Ocean City – The Tanger Outlets located in West Ocean City are an excellent way to spend a day in Ocean City. Some of the stores include: Gap, Wilson’s Leather, Dress Barn, Coach Factory and more. Located on the opposite end of the shopping center are stores such as Bath and Body Works, Marshalls and Bed, Bath and Beyond. If you are looking for something to eat, there are a several options in the West Ocean City area too. In the outlets is Mione’s Pizza, which is a locals favorite. Mione’s is a family owned and operated business serving Italian dishes and some of the most delicious pizza you have ever tasted. Also in the outlets is Outback Steakhouse. Who doesn’t love Outback. No description necessary! As you venture outside of the outlets you will find other chain restaurants like Applebee’s and Carrabas. You will also find other local’s favorites such as Harborside, Sunset Grille, the Shark and Captain’s Galley II.
Dining in Ocean City – There are plenty of places to eat and plenty of specials being offered at this time of year. Some of the restaurants open at this time are Seacrets, Fager’s Island, Greene Turtle, Coins, BJ’s and Horizon’s Oceanfront just to name a few. For more information on Ocean City restaurants, visit our dining guide for a complete listing and information. Restaurant reviews are also available to aid you in selecting the perfect option.
