Things to do in Ocean City, MD August 6-12; Beach EventsWarm summer nights on the beach fit seamlessly with live music. Test this theory on Wednesday with music by Captain Quint’s rock/island vibe. The concert is free. Head to North Division Street’s beach around 8 p.m. to catch the entertainment. Bring chairs or blankets for comfort.

Sunset Park also entertains with free music concerts. This Thursday night, the performance is from Allyson Taylor. Taylor specializes in soulful jams. Bring your own seating and be there around 7 p.m. For this event and the one above, call 1-800-626-2326 for more information.

Ocean City, Maryland Family

Our hats go off to Ocean City for instituting plenty of family events this summer. All the events for families described below are free, which is just another way Ocean City proves it works for you! There are three locations for free movies on the beach: Carousel Hotel, 27th Street, and Princess Royale. At Carousel Hotel this Wednesday, take the kids to watch Jack & Jill. At Princess Royale this Thursday, bring the kids for a viewing of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The beach at 27th Street hosts Princess and the Frog this Monday and The Muppets on Friday. All movies begin at 8:30 p.m. For more on any events in this section, head to www.ococean.com.

Every kid loves ice cream sundaes and every parent loves free entertainment. Northside Park in Ocean City combines the two every Sunday evening! Kids can create sugary masterpieces for a small fee and then watch Tootsie the clown at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, the parents can listen to The Regal Beagles for free at the same time. Bring seating for your family.

Aside from movies on the beach, Ocean City hosts free light shows and fireworks every week on the beach as well. See the light show this Sunday beginning at 9:30 p.m. Enjoy fireworks this Tuesday at 10 p.m. Both beach events take place at North Division Street.

Have rambunctious children? Want to have less rambunctious children? Let the kids enjoy fun games and activities with other children this Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. These free activities at the 27th Street beach may even uncover your child’s olympic dreams.
