Ocean City, Maryland Families
While Ocean City certainly entertains the adult crowd with bars and nightclubs, the city is very family-oriented. There are free events on the beach for families, plenty of activities for kids, and kid-friendly movies that screen on the beach. The beach fireworks at 10 p.m. on Tuesdays at North Division Street beach are also perfect for kids. The laser show on Sundays at 9:30 at the same beach works for families too. Or, take the kids to the kiddie olympics on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. for some friendly competition at the 27th Street beach. Head to http://www.ococean.com/ for questions about the following three events.
Music appropriate for kids doesn’t have to consist of baby noises or overly enthusiastic lyrics. Sunset Park offers music that’s pleasurable for both parents and children. The free music this Thursday is from Semiblind. The rock group performs at 7 p.m. and ends around 9 p.m. Parents should bring seating for their family. Aside from the fun on Thursday, Sunset Park hosts a kid’s day on Sunday. There will be games, educational activities and plenty other things to keep kids occupied. Bring the troop this Sunday for kiddie fun from noon to 4 p.m.
Movies on the beach are ideal for families, not only because they are free, but because parents can rely on an outside source for entertainment. The beach at 27th Street offers free movies on Monday and Friday. This Monday, bring the family to see The Smurfs; Friday, see Winnie the Pooh. These movies also begin at 8:30 p.m.
