Inspired by the ever-popular reality show, Jersey Shore, Macky’s presents Ocean City with a Jersey Shore theme party this Tuesday! Show up tan, wearing cheetah print, or with extremely gelled hair. Prizes go out to the person who captures the Jersey Shore spirit the best! There are also specials on beer, other alcoholic drinks, and food. For those of you who have seen the show, you know what I mean in saying get your GTL on.
Though the entertainment set up at Fager’s Island is a bit less tan, it’s still just as lively. Dance on the deck on Monday to the sounds of DJ Batman at 5:30, DJ Rob Cee at 9:30, and Animal House at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Fager’s favorite, DJ Hook rocks the deck near sunset. The music section continues even outside of the bar/nightclub scene. At Sunset Park, there’s live music by Lauren Glick Band this Thursday. Known for their bluesy rock, this group is sure to please everyone, especially against the beautiful backdrop at Sunset Park! “Sundaes in the Park” features live music as well, but also includes an ice cream sundae station for kids. There is a small fee involved for making sundaes, but the music and children’s entertainment that follows is free. The family fun occurs every Sunday through the summer from 7 to 9 p.m.
Don’t forget about the events that happen all summer: “Beach Lights Spectacular,” “Beach Fireworks,” and “Family Fun Olympics.” The light show and fireworks take place at North Division Street on the beach. The light shows occur on Sundays, beginning at 9:30, whereas the fireworks happen on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. The olympics for kids are on Tuesdays at the 27th Street beach around 6:30 p.m.
This Wednesday marks the last of the free music concerts for July on the beach at North Division Street. True to Eastern Shore style, the live entertainment is country music by 21 Horses Band. The music begins at 8 p.m.
Movies are always better on the beach, as long as sand stays out of the popcorn. This week, the movie at Carousel Hotel is The Muppets. The film begins at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cars 2 plays on Friday at Princess Royale Hotel’s beach. This movie begins at 8:30 p.m. as well. The beach at 27th Street also hosts movies. This Monday, catch Cars 2 and Tangled on Friday. Like the others, these movies begin at 8:30 p.m.
Enjoy the flavors of the Mediterranean and culture of the Greeks at Ocean City! 40th Street and the Bay hosts the Greek Festival, an event complete with clothing, jewelry, and traditional Greek food. Attend the festival during these dates and times: Friday and Saturday, noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday noon to 9 p.m. Head to the festival before 5 p.m. and avoid the $3 fee that goes into effect after that time. However on Sunday, admission before 5 p.m. does cost $2. After five, the price increases by one dollar.
