Update Town of Ocean City; Emergency operations in effect

The City Manager has declared Emergency Operation conditions effective midnight tonight through midnight Monday.   Town of Ocean City employees not necessary to work during the declared Emergency Operations will not be required to report to work during this time period and should receive information concerning future work schedules for Tuesday and beyond on Monday, October 29. OceanCity’s Transportation Department will be operating busses on their normal schedule and connections are still being made with Shore Transit at the Park & Ride.  Currently, the busses are commuting as far south as North Division Street.  The busses will turn on North Division Street and make a left on Baltimore Avenue.  The bus stop on Baltimore Avenue at 1stStreetwill be used as the south end stop. As flooding occurs in the downtown area, busses will stop further north and will pick passengers up who need to be relocated and take them to the Convention Center.  Transportation will be offered from the Convention Center at 6:00 p.m. and relocate citizens to designated shelters. The Public Works Department will also be suspending the normal scheduled trash collection on Monday and Tuesday.  Trash is scheduled to be picked up on Thursday, November 1, for those who are normally receive pick-up on Monday and Friday, November 2, for those who normally receive pick-up on Tuesday.  During this time period, limited commercial pick-up will be authorized as needed. If you have a question or concern about the changes in your trash collection, please contact the Public Works Department during business hours at  410.524.7715.  In addition, those who wish to receive more information for the offered transportation services may call Ocean City Transportation at  410.723.1606 or Shore Transit at  443.260.2300.

 The next scheduled update is expected at approximately 6 p.m. today October 28.
