New Director

Worcester County, after being without an official director of economic development for a few months, made it official last week when they hired Merry Mears, who had been assistant director for years.

It’s not a shock that we have some beautiful hotels, but it’s nice to know at least a few of them were recognized. We’ll have more on this in the coming week, but for now, we echo Worcester Tourism’s Congratulations:

Real Estate

The Town of Berlin hopes to finalize the purchase of a long-abandoned chicken processing plant early next year. The town voted to spend roughly $3 million on the purchase and partial renovation of the property. The working plan is to convert the parts of the property into a skate park, a community center and maybe even develop some hiking and biking trials. Here’s the story from the Dispatch.

Health news

New medical center opens

More medical offices and services will be available just outside of Ocean Pins as the Delmarva Health Pavilion opened this week with a ribbon cutting. Although the offices have been under construction for a little more than 12 months, the project has been in negotiations and planning for more than five years.
