Springfest 2012

Spring is in the air and Ocean City’s 22nd annual Springfest is the first sign. Springfest celebrates the upcoming spring and summer seasons in Ocean City. It begins Thursday May 3 and runs thru Sunday May 6th. The hours for Thursday May 3rd  through Saturday May 5th 10 am to 10 pm and Sunday May 6th 10 am to 6 pm. It specializes in a variety of free, local and regional entertainment. There will be over 30 food vendors serving a variety of regional and delicious foods. For the crafty people in your family, Springfest will also showcase over 180 artists featuring their unique arts and crafts.

Admission to the four day event is free. Also entertainment is free, except for the headliners. The featured headliners are country star legend Loretta Lynn, Eddie Money, Survivor and the Fabulous Hupcaps. The Fabulous Hubcaps, the most sought after oldies and rock show bands will be on stage Thursday May 3rd at 7 pm.  Tickets for this show are $5.00 and $10.00. The legendary Loretta Lynn will perform at 8 pm Friday May 4th. Tickets for her show range from $25.00 to $55.00. Eddie Money and Survivor, the 80’s sensations will take the stage Saturday May 5 at 8 pm. Their tickets run from $20.00 to $45.00. Tickets for all three shows are on sale at the Ocean City Convention Center Box office on 40th st. The hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. A special welcoming ceremony will be held on the outdoor stage on Thursday May 3rd at 10 am featuring Ocean City Elementary Schools OC stars. They are a choir made up of 3rd and 4th graders lead by music teacher Rick Chapman. This group performs at local functions such as the Winterfest of Lights, and visit Dunes Manor, local nursing homes and AARP in Ocean Pines to show off  their talents. Traveling to and from Springfest will be easy thanks to the Ocean City bus service. They will offer a ride-all-day fare, which enables you to get on off the as many times as you would like for only $3.00, or you can pay $1.00 per boarding. Satellite parking is available with Park N’ Ride bus service. These locations are West Ocean City Park & Ride on Rt 50, the Public Safety Building on 65th street, Gold Coast Mall on 115th street and Northside Park on 125th street. Parking is free at these locations. Extra buses will be in use during the festival and will pick-up passengers at any bus stop along Coastal Highway. All passengers will be dropped off at the Transit Center on South Division Street. If you require handicapped transportation assistance please call 410-723-1607.

The Springfest Express Shuttle will also be offered by the Ocean City Transportation Division. The trolleys will run to Springfest from the Convention Center’s south parking lot on 40th St. The cost is $3.00 ride all day or $1.00 per boarding. This is a non stop shuttle. The trolleys will be be running on a 30 minute schedule from the Ocean City Convention Center to Springfest from 9 am until 30 minutes following the end of the evenings last concert.
