Patti and I spent 3 whole hours cutting, washing, and drying Sandi’s coat. Poor Sandi had developed abscessed blisters on her paws from the matted hair, pulling fur, and tangled germs. I stayed with my Sandi-girl and Patti, participating and listening to this groomer, with over 17-years experience, as we bonded with my new dog.
Patti used 10 different blades and several pairs of clippers to cut 7 inches of matted hair off of my rescue dog! Both Patti and I shed tears thinking about how lucky my dog was to finally have someone to take proper care of her and help heal all of the wounds she acquired while in the wild.
I am so thankful for meeting Patti and having an absolutely heart-warming experience at Ruff Cuts. Sandi and I go back often to visit and you should, too!

About 2 weeks ago, I adopted a wonderful dog from a humane society that was in dire need of love, attention, an adoring family, and a major haircut! My little Labradoodle, Sandi, was a stray dog found wandering around a farm in western Pennsylvania. For months she didn’t have a home, she had no guaranteed food supply, no one was around to reward her and take care of her. After hearing about this pup, I knew she needed my help. I drove 6 hours north, and came back to Ocean City with my new best friend. Sandi, formerly known as Doodle while at the pound, was a dirty, stinky, matted mess!
Because this poor dog had been roaming in farm-country for months she had manure and feces matted into her hair. She had tennis-ball size and density tangles of germ-infested and infected hair clumped on all four of her paws. She smelled 50 times worse than Ocean City when the winds are strong from the swampy west. I was panicked thinking about what I was going to do about her poor hygiene. I knew that Sandi had all the potential of looking as wonderful as she was now feeling in her new home.
There aren’t any groomers in the local Ocean City phone books. The large chain pet store refused to cut my dog’s hair because she was that bad! I thought I was out of options and would have to shave this poor dog myself. In my state of pooch panic, a friend recommended that I take her to Patti Adams, owner of Ruff Cuts Pet Salon in the Ocean Pines Plaza.
Ruff Cuts was my, and Sandi’s, savior! I walked Sandi inside and Patti immediately welcomed my shabby, stinky, and germy dog into her salon. Sandi ran around the shop with Patti’s dogs and made herself comfortable. With a plethora of dog toys, treats, playmates, and things to sniff, Sandi was at home in no time.
