I’ve been spending a lot of time at JC’s Northside Pub lately. The pub, located on 127th Street in the North Bay Shopping Center, is one of my favorite spots to hang out in Ocean City. JC’s is considered a “local hangout” among my group of friends. We’ve all had great memories in the home-style dining room or at the wrap-around bar.
JC’s is the place to go for great pub style cuisine at a very reasonable price. The last time I was the JC’s Northside pub, I went in for a drink, got hungry, and ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna from the appetizers menu. The tuna was delicious! I ordered it blackened and it was served with cucumbers, a large portion of seaweed salad, and homemade wasabi mayo. The wasabi had a bit of a kick to it but was perfect with the tuna. This mini-meal was just what I was hungry for and only cost $9.00. My drinking partner for the evening ordered the “Hangover Helper”: Fries with melted Cheddar Jack cheese and crispy chopped bacon served with JC’s BBQ Ranch for dipping. He ate several, shared a few, and was happy with his cheddary decision. The fries cost a reasonable $8.00.
JC’s Northside Pub is newer to OC and was established in 2009. The staff knows what they are doing and will cater to your needs. There is live entertainment almost every night of the week. Joey Harkum, from the Baltimore-based band, Pasadena, played an acoustic show for the roughly 30 people sitting around the bar last night. If you’re into sports, the 9 flat-screen TV’s are perfect. JC’s is a friendly place to watch the games. The owner, Jeff, created an “NFL Stadium Snacks” menu consisting of corn dogs, soft pretzels, personal cheese pizzas, sausage or hot dogs, and nachos that range from $1.00 to $3.50 for game days. Bikers also love JC’s! Every Sunday is bike night. If you’re into loud motorcycles, you’ll fit right in at this pub.
Another thing about JC’s… their happy hour! Happy hour is everyday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The drafts are real drafts, a full 16 ounce glass, not smaller plastic cups like some other OC bars try to serve for happy hour. Domestic drafts cost only $1.75, domestic bottles are $2.25, rail drinks are $2.75, and house wine is $3.00 per glass.
During happy hour, you can also munch on wings for only 50 cents each. The regular menu offers options of 8 wings, 7 tenders, or shrimp and deck them out in any of the JC signature flavors. Northside wings are homemade and spicy with honey BBQ sauce. Buffalo wings are hot and spicy. Old Bay wings are considered and Eastern Shore classic. BBQ wings are smoky yet sweet. Jerk wings are covered in classic Jamaican flavor. Buffalo garlic parmesan wings offer a great blend of all 3 ingredients.
I suggest that if you’re looking for a nice place to escape for a drink or a place for some good eats, try JC’s Northside Pub. The menu has options for everyone and the company is always friendly. Try JC’s and let us know what you think!
