(Feb. 15, 2013) Six regional musicians will come together to perform tonight, Friday, at Fager’s Island as part of the first ever Songwriters on the Bay event, presented by Good Clean Fun Life and Speakeasy Clothing.
The line-up includes Nate Clendenen and Blake Haley of Ocean City, Cliff Hillis of Philadelphia, Robert Mabe of Winchester, Va., Nancy Micciulla of Rehoboth Beach, Del. and Skribe of Annapolis.
These artists, representing a variety of genres, including rock, pop, country, blues, bluegrass and folk music, will all be on the same stage performing original music as well as songs by their favorite bands and musicians.
“I’m sure I can speak for other songwriters when I say that I love this type of event, and to share the stage with people you know and some new faces [and] to hear what they have been working on and maybe even get inspired by them,” Haley said last week. “There will be a few songwriters there that I have never meet so I am eager to hear their songs and to listen to their writing style. And, I’m also looking forward to hearing Skribe again. I have only seen him once, but I was blown away.”
Haley said he hopes Songwriters on the Bay will become an annual event.
A few special guests are also scheduled to join in on the jam, which will take place in a dinner-theater setting at the 60th Street venue.
“Fager’s Island is always willing to do outside-the-box stuff for Ocean City, which is great because there’s tons of talent around here,” Clendenen said. “I’m looking forward to having so many folks of different varieties playing together. It will be a loose, free form, fun musical sharing-type of evening.”
Musicians will perform on their own, with other artists and all together as a group.
The event is set to start at 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Food and drink specials will be available.
The Sea Bay Hotel, on 61st Street, will be offering a $49.99 hotel room rate. Mention the “Songwriters on the Bay” event when booking a room.
