Raymond C. McAllister Jr.

R. McAllister Jr. R. McAllister Jr.BERLIN — Raymond Clinton McAllister Jr., 83, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at his home. Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Raymond Clinton McAllister Sr. and Edna Parsons McAllister Quillen. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Carey McAllister in 2007. He is survived by his sons, Steven R. McAllister and his wife, Helen, of Milford, Del., and Randy McAllister of Berlin; his grandchildren, Michelle McAllister and Taryn McAllister; nieces, Betsy Clendaniel and Sandy Phillips; a nephew, John McAllister; and brother-in-law, C. Kenneth Carter. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel G. McAllister and sister, Betty Ann Carter.

Mr. McAllister was a graduate of Goldey Beacom Business School in Wilmington, Del. He had worked for Scott and Wimbrow, Inc., in road construction for 31 years and later owned and operated McAllister Sand and Gravel Company for 20 years. He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Boggs-Disharoon Post #123 in Berlin for more than 60 years, and a member of the Improved Order of Redmen in Fruitland.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. The Rev. Dr. Olin Shockley officiated. Interment followed in Sunset Memorial Park in Berlin. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory may be made to the Worcester County Humane Society, P.O. Box 48, Berlin, Md. 21811.
