We know it’s early to start planning for October, but it’s time to gear up! Get ready for the 30th Annual Oktoberfest! Oktoberfest will be held at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City on October 14th and 15th. Eat, drink, dance, shop, and be merry in honor of the impeding fall weather and German heritage.
Schnitzels, wursts, and plenty of beer can be found during the 2 day extravaganza known as Oktoberfest. This family event features traditional German events like polka dancing, singing, Bavarian dancing, live entertainment, and competitions. Over 100 arts and crafts exhibitors will be displaying their hand-made items during the Oktoberfest show.
If you like to sing, make sure you’re at Oktoberfest on Friday night. An Ocean City’s Got Talent Karaoke contest will take place and a winner will be chosen that evening. There will be 4 separate dance contests on Saturday night. Participate in the Samuel Adams Stein Holding competition or the Knockwurst Eating Competition on Saturday, also.
Mike Truskowski’s Bavarian Bandstand will perform on the Oktoberfest stage all weekend long. The Happy Wanderers and The Pennsylvania Villagers will perform polka dances while Enzian Volkstanzgruppe will perform Bavarian dances for an the Oktoberfest audience.
For one low admission price, you can enter Oktoberfest and take part in all the many traditions! Free admission is granted on Friday and Saturday nights after 6 p.m. to everyone wearing suspenders! Admission is also free everyday, and anytime, to anyone wearing their favorite traditional German, Austrian or Bavarian clothing! Adult entry is $6/day. Senior and student entry is $5/day. Children 13 and under are admitted for free. Military members are admitted for free, also. Planning on going 2 days in a row? Buy a ticket for one day and go the 2nd day for $2.
