In just a few short days the Ocean City beach will be swarming with Penguins. These are not the same Penguins you will see when visiting the National Zoo, these are one-of-a-kind Penguins found only on Ocean City, Maryland’s white sand beaches on New Year’s Day each year. People calling themselves Penguins will be taking a plunge into the cold Atlantic Ocean in an effort to raise money for Atlantic General Hospital, a non profit hospital providing services to those in Worcester, Wicomico, Somerset and Sussex Counties on the eastern shore since May of 1993.
Are you willing to get wet for a good cause? There is still time to sign up for the Atlantic General Hospital Penguin Swim. You can register online or make a donation on the event website at www.penguinswim.atlanticgeneral.org.If you like to plan ahead and want to save yourself from standing in long lines to register on event day you can pre-register. Pre-registration for the event will take place on New Year’s Eve from 2pm to 4pm at the Princess Royale on 91st Street and Coastal Highway in Ocean City. There you can check in and submit forms and donations as well as pick up prizes. Those pre-registering this year will even get a special prize! Registration the day of begins at 11:30am at the Princess Royale.a

Monies raised by this event are used to strengthen hospital programs, enhance hospital services and medical technologies, attract the best clinical staff, fund renovation projects, and maintain a healing environment in the coming year according to Donna Pellinger.
