Ocean City Maryland Amusements
One of the best reasons to choose Ocean City, Maryland for your family vacation spot is our amusements. Ocean City offers everything from great kiddy rides to extreme rides that will satisfy the most daring thrill seekers not to mention go karts, waterslides, rock walls, mazes and much more.
For a day of fun, check out Jolly Roger’s Amusement Park. It is located on 30th street in midtown Ocean City. It has four distinct sections: the amusement park rides, Splash Mountain water park, Speedworld, and the mini golf course. There are slides of all sizes, from 5 story monsters to kiddy slides. There is a slide called the Stealth that is absolutely awesome and sure to please those with a need for speed. Jolly Roger also has a lazy river that you can tube, swim or just laze in that circles the park. And, for the smaller members of your family there is a kiddy pool with an array of playground items in the water. And, for the young ,as well as the young at heart, be sure to spend some time in their amazing wave pool. Jolly Roger’s amusement rides are also a blast as they have everything from merry-go-rounds to roller coasters and zipper rides. The craziest ride there is definitely the Bungee; almost as much fun to watch as to do! One or two people are secured in a harness connected to two large bungee cords. When the ride operator throws the switch, the occupants are propelled over a hundred and fifty feet up into the air and when they come down it feels like a free fall– until the cords catches! It’s scary, thrilling, fun and exciting all rolled into one– not to mention you get an amazing view of Ocean City once the bouncing slows down and you stop screaming! The go kart tracks offer everything from slick track racing to twin engine speed tracks and kiddy karts. The mini golf attraction goes along with the Jolly Roger pirate theme and is great fun for all ages. And, their second location is at the pier in downtown Ocean City just off the boardwalk and near the beautiful inlet. This location is best known for its giant Ferris Wheel which also offers incredible panoramic views of the ocean and the bay! Be sure to plan a day at Trimper’s– an Ocean City tradition and favorite. Trimper’s is located at the south end of the boardwalk at the inlet. No visit to Ocean City is complete without some time spent at Trimper‘s. And, if by chance it rains, no worries as families can still enjoy the day in the enclosed section of Trimper’s that is perfect for the younger members of the family. Known as the “pride of the boardwalk“, Trimper’s merry-go-round is a beautiful piece of American history that you really must see and ride to appreciate. Outside, of course, Trimper’s has a huge roller coaster with fun-filled flips, turns, curves and loops. Then, there are the Zipper, the teacups, the tilt-whirl, the mirror maze and too many rides and attractions to list here but be assured– Trimper’s has all the Ocean City classics. And, speaking of classic, Trimper’s is home to the famous 45 year old haunted house near the end of the boardwalk that you must see and do in addition to dozens of arcade style amusements like Tin Can Alley, Race Horse Derby and Whac-A-Mole; just to name a few and the kids will love the prizes— some of the prizes are bigger than the kids! Trimper’s is a “must do” for your Ocean City itinerary so check it out now at http://www.trimpersrides.com/
And, although it is not an amusement park, check out Planet Maze on 33rd Street for more fun and excitement for the little ones; especially if it happens to rain. It has a large indoor maze that has slides, tunnels and rooms with netting for the floor, bungee rooms, loops, twists, and ball pits. For the little bit older kids, Plant Maze also includes an area for laser tag with its dark neon lights illuminating the barricade and mist machine that makes the game even more of a challenge. Referees keep the games going safe and at the end, players are provided with their scores. There is also a snack bar and a small arcade as well as tables and chairs available for the parents so they can keep a close watch on their kids while they are having a blast. Just outside is an amazing miniature golf course with an outer space theme that you must play before leaving! And, no matter if you are a local or Ocean City visitor, remember Planet Maze is a great place for birthday parties so check them out at http://www.planetmaze.com/.
