Many people see Memorial Day as the start of summer, but in Ocean City, MD, we don’t like to wait that long. If you’re like us, this is the weekend you’ve been waiting for as the highly anticipated annual celebration known as Springfest returns to town. We also know you want to impress mom this Mother’s Day weekend, so give her what she really wants- a trip to Ocean City for Springfest!
Here is a look at Springfest and the rest of this week’s highlights:
– The main attraction this weekend (besides mom, of course) is Springfest. Springfest is our first real opportunity to celebrate the coming season, so it’s special every year; but this year the extravaganza is turning 25, so 2015 promises to be one of the most memorable festivals yet. Over 180 vendors offering local food, arts and crafts, specialty products, jewelry and more, plus the inlet stages will be rocking and rolling all weekend with amazing musical acts. As always, entry into Springfest is 100% free.
– In addition to great food and sunshine, performances by national recording acts are the most anticipated parts of Springfest. The 25th anniversary of Springfest is no different as Friday night will be headlined by country music superstar Vince Gill and Saturday will see 80s icon Pat Benatar take the stage. Tickets are required for the headline events.
– If you’re looking for something else to occupy your time this weekend, consider checking out the 10th Annual Nautical Flea Market. Hosted by the OC Marlin Club on Saturday, May 9. The flea market lasts 8am-noon and features rods, reels, hooks, lines, and more gear. Rent a table for $25 to sell some of your old equipment, or peruse the offerings of others as you add to your tackle box. Call 410-208-4510 for more information.
– Finally, another widely popular Ocean City event takes over next weekend as Cruisin’ Ocean City rolls into town starting on Thursday. If you’re a fan of classic cars, muscle cars, Hot Rods, trick trucks, and other high-end automobiles, Cruisin’ Ocean City is a can’t miss weekend. The action takes place at the Inlet and Convention Center parking lots and will feature national vendors, demos, contests, celebrity appearance and much more! Check back next week for a full schedule of Cruisin’ Ocean City events!
