Happy May, Ocean City! The 2015 season is inching closer and closer with every passing second and, with Springfest looming on next week’s horizon, summer will soon be in full swing in Ocean City, Md! If you can’t wait for Springfest to kick off on Thursday, there is plenty to keep you occupied between now and then.
Here are some of this week’s highlights:
– The 11th Annual White Marlin Festival & Crab Soup Cook-off takes place this Saturday, May 2, at Somerset Street Plaza in downtown Ocean City. The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. and will see with local chefs competing for the title of “Best Crab Soup.” The White Marlin Festival & Crab Soup Cook-off will also feature entertainment for kids, exhibits and live music. – Speaking of crab soup, Ocean City Spring Restaurant Week is still taking over town, giving you the chance to try out creative dishes and whole menus at special pricing. Many local chefs like to celebrate Restaurant Week by highlighting fresh, seasonal ingredients, so don’t miss your chance to taste the best the Eastern Shore has to offer.
– Finally, Springfest turns 25 this year and the 4-day celebration kicks off Thursday, May 7. This year, in addition to countless vendors and activities, Springest will be headlined by three major musical acts. Beatlemania Again takes the Inlet stage Thursday, followed by country music icon Vince Gill on Friday, and 80s rock legends Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo on Saturday. Aside from headlining concerts, Springfest is 100% free to attend and will be open 10am-10pm Thursday-Satuday and 10am-6pm on Sunday.
