With just a few week’s left before school goes back in session, if you haven’t made your trip to Ocean City, MD yet this summer, there’s no time like the present. – This weekend one of Ocean City’s most original events returns- Captain Steve Harman’s Poor Girl’s Open. This annual event is a ladies-only catch and release billfish tournament to benefit breast cancer research. The Poor Girl’s Open takes place Friday and Saturday with ore than 100 boats slated to compete in the categories of wahoo, dolphin, and tuna. Nightly weighins at Bahia Marina (21st St., bayside) from 4-7:30pm and will feature silent auctions, 50/50, event tshirts, and more. Call 410-289-7438 for more info.
– On Friday, August 14, professional wrestling icon Kevin Nash will be appearing at a meet and greet at Cowboy Coast from 7-9pm. Formerly known by the ring name ‘Diesel,’ Nash is a 7′ tall WWE Hall of Famer and founding member of the legendary nWo faction. Prices vary for photos and autographs. – Also this weekend will be the annual OC Beach Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. Originating from the beach at Somerset St., the Ultimate Frisbee Tournament runs from 9am-5pn Saturday and Sunday and is expected to have as many as 40 teams participating across two skill levels. – Finally, only a few weeks of Ocean City’s free weekly events remain, so make sure to take advantage of them while you still can. This week, create your own sundaes at Northside Park from 7-9pm with Sundaes in the Park; check out a spectacular laser lights show along the Boardwalk with OC Beach Lights shows at 9:30, 10, 10:30pm; enjoy beach fireworks on Monday and Tuesday on the beach at N. Division St; listen to the sweet sounds of Bluesman Tom Larsen at Wednesday’s Concert on the Beach on the Caroline Street Stage; and rock out with Sunset Park Party Nights on Thursday from 7-9pm.
