Rick Maloof was a local photographer who devoted much of his time to photographing nonprofit groups in the Ocean City area. Maloof also worked as Salisbury University’s official photographer. His stream of artwork has recently been published. To honor Maloof and his beautiful photos, a memorial fund-raising brunch will be held on Sunday, June 5th at noon.
The plated brunch is $50 per person and is expected to sell out. Tickets can be picked up at the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin, a sponsor of the brunch, or reserved by calling Arlene at 410-352-3749. Proceeds from the brunch will benefit a greenhouse to be built for the Environmental Studies students at Salisbury University. Additional funds will go towards printing more copies of Maloof’s book.
Path to Beauty: Ecology of Ancient Forests, Maloof’s printed book, will be available for sale, for the first time ever, at the brunch. The book is filled with Maloof’s forest photography from all over the world.
Richard Maloof passed away on December 27th, 2010. He had been diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in September of the same year. Many miss this photographer-philosopher, but his love of life lives on.
