Memorial Day in Ocean City 2011

If you are in Ocean City this week, you may notice a couple of changes as you drive down Coastal Highway. The speed limit, normally 40 mph through North Ocean City, has been reduced to 30 mph, and Downtown, the speed limit has also been reduced. This is due to the expected, unauthorized H2Oi Pop-Up Rally.  It is reasonable to expect heavier than usual traffic, noise and strict enforcement of vehicle laws during the week and weekend.

It’s almost Memorial Day weekend in Ocean City… Do you know what that means? Opening weekend at the beach! Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of the 2011 beach season. Welcome to Ocean City, summer. We’ve missed you a lot! If you’re looking for a way to celebrate, here are a few options:

The Spring Arts and Crafts Show will be held May 28th – 29th this is Ocean City’s only Memorial Day weekend craft show. There will be vendors at the Ocean City Convention Center on 40th Street showcasing and selling items like garden accessories, jewelry, candles, floral pieces, nautical items, wooden crafts, handmade candies, and more. The show is open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday. Admission to this event is free.

Seacrets is celebrating Memorial Day weekend with lots of live entertainment. Bands like Table Ten, Second Majesty, The Movement, Benderz, and several others will perform live throughout the weekend. Don’t forget about the Jim Long Band. Jim Long performs his first show of the season at Seacrets on Saturday, May 28th starting at 5 pm.

Memorial Day weekend is pool opening weekend, too. Most pools in Ocean City will be ready for you to jump in… even if the water is still chilly. The Caribbean Pool Bar is no different. The Caribbean Bar & Grill opens this weekend with live music, great food, frozen drinks, and a nice view of the beach. The Caribbean Pool Bar is located in the Plim Plaza on 2nd Street and the Boardwalk in Ocean City.

Happy Memorial Day, Ocean City! Here’s to a safe and happy summer season!
