Believe it or not, June is almost over, and the weekend you have all been waiting for is almost upon us! The 4th of July represents a lot of things, but in Ocean City, Maryland, it’s all about celebrating life’s greatest gifts. We celebrate being an American, freedom, family, beautiful beaches, and, most importantly, the fact that this year the holiday falls on Thursday and you get a long weekend! We recommend heading east early, before Route 50 traffic turns to a standstill, but, regardless of when you arrive, hanging out in Ocean City for the holiday weekend will make you never want to leave.
On July 4th Ocean City will host simultaneous events downtown at North Division Street and at Northside Park on 127th Street. The festivities kick off with a concert at 8pm and conclude with fantastic fireworks displays at 9:30. These family friendly celebrations are free to attend. If you’re looking for a more adult environment, Seacrets will have its own fireworks display beginning around 9pm.
If you’ve been to Ocean City on July 4th before, you know it’s more than just fireworks, it’s the biggest party of the summer. The sun will be hot, the beaches will be packed, the beer will be flowing, the crabs will be cracking, and there will be exciting action all across town. Whether you choose to commemorate our nation’s birthday by lounging in the sun, splashing in the surf, boating on the bay, cooking out, shopping on the boardwalk, or bar hopping, Ocean City offers all the attractions and accommodations you need for a star spangled celebration that will make our Founding Fathers proud.
