Grow Berlin Green

Grow Berlin Green is a campaign dedicated to encouraging our community and surrounding areas to protect our local eco-systems, conserve our resources, and build our cities using safe, smart practices. The goal of the organization is to encourage the preservation of Maryland’s natural resources. Our ocean, bay, marshes, rivers, creeks, and any other waterway depend on the help and support of like-minded, Earth-loving individuals.

Grow Berlin Green is managed by a strong team of experienced local environmentalists. Members from the Assateague Coastal Trust (ACT), the Lower Shore Land Trust (LSLT) and the Maryland Coastal Bays Program (MCBP), and local citizens are active in the program. This 3-year campaign was launched with support and initial funding from the Town Creek Foundation. Town Creek is a private, philanthropic organization that is dedicated to sustainable living in any environment.

ACT, LSLT, and MCBP are all non-profit organizations that work to protect, and enhance the natural resources of the Atlantic coastal bays watershed and oceanic areas. These supportive groups believe that conservation of our land, forests, and bodies of water is essential to our thriving, water-driven area. By working with individual landowners and local businesses, the goal of all 3 programs is to enhance the Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Berlin, and Assateague Island watersheds.

Community involvement is a must! Grow Berlin Green is driven largely by community education, empowerment, and action. Join the Grow Berlin Green team! Green team leaders are all over the Ocean City area. Look for representatives promoting green living and pushing eco-friendly and practical household, neighborhood, and business throughout the area. Events and activities are awesome and occurring frequently.

Depending on our giving towns-people, business owners, educators, and eco-enthusiasts, we can make our community greener and our water cleaner! With the Grow Berlin Green initiative, hopefully Berlin can be used as a model to other communities in the Delmarva area. If you are interested in helping out, email GrowBerlinGreen@hotmail.com. Let’s improve our natural resources, reduce waste, increase recycling, and make our area more Earth-friendly so we can enjoy our waterways now and forever.
