Grow Berlin Green Globe Gathering

If you are in Ocean City this week, you may notice a couple of changes as you drive down Coastal Highway. The speed limit, normally 40 mph through North Ocean City, has been reduced to 30 mph, and Downtown, the speed limit has also been reduced. This is due to the expected, unauthorized H2Oi Pop-Up Rally.  It is reasonable to expect heavier than usual traffic, noise and strict enforcement of vehicle laws during the week and weekend.

On Tuesday, February 22nd, the Globe Theater in Berlin will be hosting a “GBG Globe Gathering” starting at 5 pm.

On the 2nd floor of the Globe, you’ll find a light bulb swap, a raffle, and a meeting of eco-friendly minds. Bring in your incandescent light bulbs and Grow Berlin Green will trade them for energy efficient CFLs blubs. Be sure to enter the raffle to win enough CFL bulbs to light up your entire home. You can also sign up to reserve a new rain barrel for your home during this meeting.

During the same meeting, on the 1st floor of the Globe, you can listen to the Maryland Coastal Bays Program Citizens Advisory Committee as they speak about the fantastic bay side of Assateague Island. A national park representative will be giving a short presentation about the island and then showing a 20-minute viewing of a great film. The film, called “Back to the Wild”, is about the history of Assateague. This is the first film made about the Assateague Island National Seashore in over 20 years.

The Globe is located in historic Downtown Berlin. We hope to see you there on February 22nd for this eco-friendly event! Keep checking back frequently for more articles on Going Green in Ocean City
