It’s always nice to get a little extra recognition from the national press as a reminder that there’s still so much going on down here at the beach during the winter. If you haven’t been down for Santa Con, here’s what you missed from a more objective perspective than we’d be likely to give.
Louise Gulyas passes away
Although the news wasn’t good, the response has been inspiring. All over town as well as online, people are making tributes to Ms. Gulyas as much for her personal fortitude as for her decades of civic service, including her time as a commissioner.
Although the promotion is over, the attitude is what is worth taking note of. The Main Street Merchants in Berlin are always cooking up extra reasons to come to downtown Berlin. Making the trip worthwhile has been what has helped make Berlin such an important economic engine in the region, especially given its size.
Arts and Leisure
Going to disco parties is fun even when you don’t dress up. I haven’t participated this year, but it looks like so much fun that if this correspondent is fortunate enough to be invited to another event like this, he certainly will consider dressing up.
Retiring to the beach is something that lots of people plan. This couple was in town recently to celebrate the fact that they finally had made the plunge. But it’s the attitdue more than the accomplishment that is particularly worth noting.
