Ocean City has fun-filled activities and entertainment scheduled through August. The town understands that it is important to enjoy the Maryland sunshine, play on our white-sand beaches, relax on your vacation, and to have a great time on a budget. If you are looking for a few free activities to partake in, check out these upcoming events!
Sundaes in the Park
(Every Sunday through August 29)
Listen to live music on Sunday evenings! The concerts take place in Ocean City’s Northside Park (127th Street and the bay) from 6 to 8 p.m. Many types of musicians will play their choice of family-friendly music while children participate in games and activities. Ice cream sundae’s are available for a small fee. Make your own sundae, enjoy the music, sunset, and setting, and hang out on Sunday’s in the Park!
Movies on the Beach
(Every Monday and Friday through August 13)
Bring a blanket, chair, and your family to 27th Street and enjoy a movie on the beach! From 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Ocean City will provide a free movie on a big-screen in the sand. Activities, arts and crafts, and games for children are available from 7:30 to 8:30, with the movie beginning promptly after. Because this is an outside event, movies on the beach will only be held if the weather is permitting.
Family Beach Olympics
(Every Tuesday through August 10)
Every wanted to be an Olympian? Bring your family to the Ocean City Family Beach Olympics! From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., you can participate in a tug-of-war, relay games, races, and sand castle building contests. The contests take place on the beach at 27th street in Ocean City. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate in activities.
Beach Concerts
(Every Wednesday through August 25)
Free beach concerts take place every Wednesday from 8 to 9:30 pm on the beach at North Division Street in Ocean City. A different band will perform every week. It is best to bring a blanket or a beach chair to claim your spot in the sand. Children can dance and play in the sand while listening to a live band play great music right next to the boardwalk.
Bonfires
(Every Thursday through August 19)
Head to North Division Street, look for a big bonfire in the sand, and have a seat! Every Thursday the bonfire begins at dusk and continues for an hour. During this hour, families can enjoy guest speakers who tell exciting stories about the beach.
Sunset Park Party Nights
(Every Tuesday through August 24)
Throughout summer head to the Sunset Park to catch concerts and gatherings on the stage. The series of free concerts are sponsored by the Ocean City Development Corporation and other non-profit organizations from the town. Concert admission begins at 7 p.m. Beer, wine, and other refreshments are available for purchase. Sunset Park is located on South Division Street and the bay in Ocean City.
Museum Programs
(Mid July – August)
The Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum encourages children and their parents to attend an informative and entertaining get-together on the boardwalk. The museum staff will discuss the history of Ocean City, beach safety, ocean wildlife, and other beach-related items while children participate in activities and ask questions. The event takes place Monday through Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Southern point for the boardwalk.
