    Quay or Capri?

Looking for opinions on renting a summer week at the Quay versus the Capri. Price seems to be about the same. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    Capri

We stayed on the 7th or 8th floor of the Capri about 11 years ago in a condo that had beautiful bay views. We loved the condo and the building, however, there was only one parking space for the 7 of us, so we had to find parking elsewhere for our second car, which was very difficult. No parking was allowed during the early morning hours in the residential area across the street. Sometimes we parked in the parking lot of the Gold Coast Mall, but worried every night that our car might be towed.

Another problem was the elevators. They were always slow, but getting our luggage, sheets and towels in and out on Saturday was a nightmare. Even though we started early in the morning on the Saturday that we left and took some of it down the stairs, we missed the 10:00 checkout deadline, and Condo Realty threatened to charge us an extra day.

I have owned units in both buildings. They are of comparable size and layout. Both have a single park spot. As a rule, I think the Capri is superior based on the following. For three bedroom units, there is a huge balcony from which to enjoy the view. In the Quay, the balcony is tiny. For 2BR units, the Capri has the dining room window bumped out offering a better view of the beach. At the Quay, due to the flat surface and interference from neighboring buildings, some units have very poor views. The elevators in both are old and slow. One other negative about the Quay is unit ventilation. They renovated the exterior walls about five years ago. This all but eliminated airflow causing mold problems in several units.
