Fishing in Ocean City for Father’s Day

If you are in Ocean City this week, you may notice a couple of changes as you drive down Coastal Highway. The speed limit, normally 40 mph through North Ocean City, has been reduced to 30 mph, and Downtown, the speed limit has also been reduced. This is due to the expected, unauthorized H2Oi Pop-Up Rally.  It is reasonable to expect heavier than usual traffic, noise and strict enforcement of vehicle laws during the week and weekend.

Imagine this:  Fishing for Black Sea Bass off the coast of Ocean City Maryland for Father’s Day on a 75 foot yacht.  You don’t have to worry about a thing.  You just show up and pay one fee and your bait and supplies are included.  You can go out with your buddies because your family gave you the trip for Father’s Day.  You can also take your kids to teach them the best techniques to catch the most fish.  Sounds like the perfect fantasy, but either way, this fantasy can become reality in Ocean City, Maryland.

The Judith M is the boat that takes you out for half day trips on Father’s Day.  You can go on the morning excursion from 8 am until 12:30.  Or you can head out at 1:30 pm and will be back by 6:00 pm.  According to Mike, the captain of the Judith M, the value of going out in the morning vs. the afternoon is simply due to conditions.  He says that some believe the morning trip is always better, but he says that the statistics don’t prove this to be true.  The wind and the currents are what determines the success of the trip and he says the fish are running strong.

"Having excellent fish to eat" is the primary reason to go said Mike.  It’s great to go with friends, but it’s also great to take kids. "After all," said Mike, "we need these kids because they are the future of fishing!"

Just call the marina at 410-289-7438 to make a reservation.  Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis, but you can reserve tickets by calling in advance. The boat only holds 80 people, children or adults, so make sure you plan ahead to get Dad out the water.  If you don’t like to fish, don’t worry.  Hang out at Fish Tales, the fabulous waterfront restaurant where the chefs serves fabulous food of all types.  Try their sweet potato fries or their gigantic salads.
