(Nov. 9, 2012) Habitat for Humanity of Worcester County, Inc. is accepting applications for new partner families interested in pursuing the dream of owning a decent, affordable home. Families selected to receive a Habitat house enter into a “partnership” with the organization in several ways: n They must contribute a predetermined number of “sweat equity hours” on their house or other Habitat houses. n They assume a “no-interest, no down payment” mortgage (held by Habitat) based on the cost of building their home. They must exhibit a good work record, meet Habitat’s income requirements and show the ability to budget and pay bills on time. n They must be willing to learn about home ownership, the costs and responsibilities and become a good neighbor in their community.
Anyone who lives in Worcester County and would like to learn more about becoming a “partnering family” with Habitat for Humanity may send contact information via e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail to HFH of Worcester County, P.O. Box 1327, Berlin, Md. 21811.
