(May 31,2013) SELBYVILLE, DEL.—Edward S. Shannon, 86, of Selbyville and formerly of Baltimore died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at home.
He was born in Baltimore and was the son of the late Samuel G. and Lavina B. Wiggington Shannon.
Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor E. Shannon, in 2000 and a son, Edward G. Shannon, in 2001.
He is survived by a son, Douglas L. Shannon; a daughter, Joyce E. Castle and her husband John; two brothers, Charles Shannon and Roger Shannon; a sister, Emma Geer; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Mr. Shannon had been a mason at F & S Contracting for many years. He was a member of Sound United Methodist Church near Williamsville and was a member of the Ocean View VFW, the American Legion in Dagsboro and the Moose Lodge in Roxana. He was also a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8 at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville with Rev. Cliff Toomey officiating.
