Dewey Beach, Delaware Overview

Dewey Beach is a small jewel that lies between Rehoboth Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.  It was named after Admiral George Dewey after he became a national hero during the Battle of Manilla in the Spanish American War in 1898.  This incorporated town is only one mile long and two blocks wide and is home to 341 people year-round according to the 2010 Census, but hosts as many as 30,000 during the summer months.  Dewey Beach is a popular destination for families and singles alike because of its wide, white, sandy beaches and its bars and restaurants located along Route 1, the major north/south highway that runs up the Eastern Shore behind the beaches.  It is located in Sussex County, DE just north of Ocean City, MD and is host to many annual events that could prove appealing to Ocean City visitors as well as those staying in Dewey.  These events include:
